Nha Trang prices 2026: food, stay, transport
Nha Trang is still one of Vietnam's most affordable beach cities. Lunch at a local eatery from ~$2, a sea-view flat from ~$310 a month, an hour of massage for ~$6. All figures are in Vietnamese dong (VND) with a rough USD reference at ~25,000 VND = $1.

Currency and money exchange in Nha Trang
The Vietnamese dong (VND) is the only official currency. Notes run from 10,000 to 500,000 VND. The zeros stop being intimidating after a day or two: drop the last three and divide by 25 to get a rough USD figure.
The current rate
Where to change money
The best rates are usually at gold shops and private exchange counters along Trần Phú, though the rules tightened in 2026 (see below). Bank rates are typically a little worse.
- US dollars — best rate, accepted everywhere
- Euros — accepted, but the rate is less predictable
- Other currencies — changeable at tourist counters, usually at a 2–5% worse rate
Rate reference is for 2026. Confirm the live rate on the day you exchange.
Cards, ATMs and cash
Visa and Mastercard work at bigger shops, hotels and restaurants. Local cafes and markets are cash only. ATMs dispense dong with a per-withdrawal fee of 20,000–60,000 VND (~$0.80–2.40) and a limit of usually 3,000,000–5,000,000 VND per transaction. Bring a card that reimburses ATM fees, and always keep some cash on you — most day-to-day spending here is physical dong.
Food prices in Nha Trang
Food is where the savings live. A local plate lunch costs ~$1.50–2, while a seafront restaurant runs ~$25–55 for two. Fresh seafood is the local flex, and it's cheap by the kilo at the fish markets.

Living in Nha Trang as a foreigner

Healthcare

Visas
Vietnam runs a 90-day e-visa (single or multiple entry) that most nationalities can apply for online at evisa.gov.vn. Rules and eligible countries change, so check your passport's status before you book. If you plan to stay longer than your visa allows, sort out an extension or a border run in advance.
