Nha Trang beaches: the full guide for 2026
Nha Trang's coastline is 7 km along the central promenade alone — and with the surrounding area, dozens more, from snow-white Doc Let in the north to resort-lined Bai Dai in the south. Eight beaches, 19 islands in the bay and a South China Sea that sits at 24–29 °C (75–84 °F).

The best Nha Trang beaches on the map
The city beach works if you're staying downtown and want everything on foot. For white sand and clean water, head to Doc Let or Bai Dai. For a wave-free day with kids, pick Paragon or Doc Let. Tap a marker for details.

Nha Trang city beach (Tran Phu)

Seven kilometres of yellow sand curving along the promenade — this is the city's main beach. Entry is free and the infrastructure is well developed: cafés, restaurants, loungers, water sports, outdoor gym equipment, playgrounds. All of it is five minutes from any hotel in the centre of Nha Trang.
Locals split the beach into unofficial zones:
- Louisiana — a beachfront bar-restaurant with loungers and music
- Central Park — the middle stretch, a family zone with trees and shade
- Sailing Club — the southern end, parties and evening DJs
Prices: lounger + umbrella — 30,000–150,000 VND (~$1.20–6). Water sports (surfing, jet ski, sailing) from 300,000 VND (~$12).
Downsides: crowded in high season, pushy vendors. October to January brings waves and red flags. The water can turn murky.
💬 "Nha Trang Beach is absolutely stunning with golden sand and crystal-clear water — but in January the waves were strong and the red flag was up three days straight." — Tripadvisor, 2025
Bai Dai beach (Bãi Dài)

Fifteen kilometres of fine white sand start 20 km south of the centre, on the road to Cam Ranh airport. Bãi Dài is one of the loveliest beaches in the region: turquoise water, a gentle shelf and barely anyone on weekdays.
Big resorts line the shore — Movenpick, Radisson Blu, Duyên Hà Resort — with free loungers and umbrellas for guests. Outside the resort grounds the infrastructure is minimal: a few seafood shacks. For the coast around the airport, see our guide to Cam Ranh.
Getting there
- Bus No. 18 — 30,000 VND (~$1.20) to Bai Dai
- Grab / taxi — ~350,000 VND (~$14) one way
- Scooter — rental from 100,000 VND/day (~$4), roughly a 30-minute ride
Downsides: far from the centre, weak infrastructure outside the resorts, litter near the shacks. But if you want clean white sand without crowds, it's one of the best options.
Skip the airport queue in 5–10 min
In winter, immigration lines run 60–90 min. With Fast Track you’re met at the aircraft and taken through the priority lane. Arrange it before you fly.
Telegram managerDoc Let beach — the "Vietnamese Maldives"

Fine white sand, azure water and shallows waist-deep for 50–100 m out from shore. Bãi Dốc Let sits 46–50 km north of Nha Trang in the Ninh Hòa area. That look earns it the nickname "Vietnamese Maldives."
Islands shelter the beach from big waves, so it's ideal for families with kids — shallow, calm and warm.
Prices
- Lounger + umbrella — 20,000–100,000 VND (~$0.80–4)
- Entry to the paid zone — 120,000–150,000 VND (~$4.80–6), lounger included
- Beach café — from 50,000 VND (~$2) a dish
Getting there
- Bus No. 3 (yellow, Phương Trang) — 30,000 VND (~$1.20), about 1.5 hours
- Grab / taxi — 500,000–900,000 VND (~$20–36) round trip
- Scooter — 1 hour, a scenic ride
💬 "Doc Let is called the Vietnamese Maldives — white sand, clear water, shallows perfect for kids." — traveller reviews, 2025
There are places to stay on the shore — White Sand Doclet Resort and Jungle Beach — for anyone who wants to linger a couple of days.
Downsides: far from Nha Trang, litter on the remoter stretches, a limited choice of cafés.
Marina Beach

A beach 5–7 km from the centre, between the city beach and Paragon. White sand, calm sea and fewer people than on Trần Phú.
The infrastructure is basic — cafés and loungers, but no large entertainment zones. The beach is free. Get there by taxi for 50,000–100,000 VND (~$2–4) or by scooter.
Marina Beach is the compromise between access and cleanliness: closer than Bai Dai, cleaner than the city beach, and not as far as Doc Let.
Paragon beach
An artificial beach in the An Viên area, about 6 km from the centre. It belongs to Paragon Villa Hotel. Imported white sand and breakwaters mean a sea with no waves, like a swimming pool — real seawater, but completely still.
Paragon is the one beach in Nha Trang guaranteed to be wave-free at any time of year. Ideal for small children and anyone who can't swim.
Downsides: small, may be closed, limited infrastructure. But if you get in, it's a great spot.
North beach (Hon Chong)
North of the city, across the river, around the Hòn Chồng headland — 4 km from the centre. Light fine sand, rocks in places. Its cove position keeps the sea calmer than the city beach, with only small waves even in winter.
Getting there: bus No. 05-2 from the centre, or a Grab for 50,000–80,000 VND (~$2–3.20).
💬 "If the city beach is churning, hop on bus No. 05-2 and head to the north beach — it's always calm there." — traveller reviews
Downsides: weak infrastructure, not all of the shoreline is swimmable (some stretches are concrete embankments), and the water can be less clean.
Wave-free beaches in Nha Trang

In winter (October–January) the city beach gets rough and red flags close it to swimmers. Where to escape the waves:
- Paragon — an artificial cove with breakwaters. Dead calm
- Doc Let — sheltered by islands, waves minimal
- Bai Dai — calm in the dry season (February–August)
- North beach — a cove, gentle waves
- Island beaches — Hon Tam, Hon Mun (no waves)
- Amiana — private, wave-free

Several hotel beaches in and around Nha Trang are open to non-guests too. The bay islands, meanwhile, are the go-to for calm, clear water:
Hon Mun and Hon Tam are the two islands most travellers reach on a boat tour. Hon Mun is the marine-protected snorkelling spot — the coral and clear water are the draw, not the sand. Hon Tam has a sandy resort beach with no waves. Both are typically done as a bay-hopping tour from the centre.
Amiana Resort — 10 km from the centre. White sand, azure sea, no waves. Day pass for outside visitors: 500,000 VND (~$20). A Grab from the centre is 150,000–200,000 VND (~$6–8). A premium option for anyone happy to pay for seclusion.
Diamond Bay — south of the centre. A sandy resort beach with a restaurant, showers and toilets. Access is mainly for guests.
Vinpearl (VinWonders) — an artificial beach on the entertainment island. Fine white sand, a calm lagoon. Included in the single ticket: ~950,000 VND (~$38). Reached by cable car from the centre.
Water temperature and beach season

The South China Sea off Nha Trang warms from 24 °C (75 °F) in winter to 29 °C (84 °F) in summer, per Vietnam Travel. The best window for a beach holiday is March–August: a calm sea, water at 27–29 °C (81–84 °F) and little rain.
| Period | Water | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Mar–Aug | 27–29 °C (81–84 °F) | Calm sea, little rain — best for the beach |
| Sep | 28 °C (82 °F) | Still warm, occasional showers |
| Oct–Jan | 24–26 °C (75–79 °F) | Waves and red flags on the city beach; head to wave-free spots |
| Feb | 25 °C (77 °F) | Sea calming down, shoulder season |
Nha Trang's beach season is one of the longest in the country: comfortable swimming for 8 months out of 12.
Frequently asked questions about Nha Trang beaches
Can you swim at Nha Trang city beach in winter?
From October to January the city beach often flies red flags — swimming is banned because of strong waves. You can still sunbathe, but going in is risky. Alternatives: Paragon (breakwaters, calm year-round), the island beaches or hotel pools. Local surfers, on the other hand, wait all year for this season.
Which beach is best with a toddler under 3?
Doc Let is ideal: the shallows run 50–100 m out from shore, the sand is soft and white, and there are no waves. The catch is distance — 46 km from the city. The nearest alternative is Paragon (6 km, an artificial wave-free cove). The city beach is awkward with a small child: waves, pushy vendors and coarse sand.
Are there dangerous marine animals on Nha Trang beaches?
Jellyfish show up in the rainy season (October–December) — stings hurt but are not life-threatening. You may meet sea urchins on the rocky stretches of Hon Chong, so wear water shoes. Sharks are not found off Nha Trang. When snorkelling over coral, do not touch starfish or anemones with bare hands.
Is Bai Dai worth the trip if you stay in central Nha Trang?
Yes, if you want white sand and clean water without crowds. A Grab ride is about 30 minutes (~350,000 VND / ~$14 one way). Tip: combine it with your arrival or departure — Bai Dai is on the road to Cam Ranh airport. A rented scooter (~100,000 VND / ~$4 a day) halves the cost. Outside the resorts the infrastructure is minimal, so bring water and a snack.
How do you avoid pushy vendors on the city beach?
Three moves: 1) take a lounger in a paid zone at a café (Louisiana, Sailing Club) — vendors leave you alone; 2) arrive before 8:00, they turn up later; 3) a firm "no", no smile, no conversation. Headphones help. The Central Park stretch is calmer than the southern end of the beach.
Can you stay overnight at Doc Let?
Yes. White Sand Doclet Resort (3-star, from ~$40 a night) sits right on the white beach. Jungle Beach is a budget eco-lodge in a cove (~$15–25 for a bungalow). Staying over means you catch sunrise on an empty beach and skip 2 hours of round-trip driving.
