Where to stay in Hue: areas, hotels and budgets in 2026
In Hue, the river bank you pick decides everything. The right bank of the Perfume River holds 95% of the tourist hotels, restaurants and bars; the left is the Citadel and local life. Here is where to base yourself by budget and trip style.

The Perfume River (Sông Hương) splits Hue in two, and which bank you book on shapes the whole trip. One side is tourists, the riverfront and restaurants. The other is the Citadel, the market and Vietnamese going about their day. First time in Hue? Start with the main city guide for the history, routes and what to actually see.
Below is the breakdown by segment: specific hotels, 2026 prices, coordinates and booking tips. The stuff the aggregators don't tell you.
Quick pick by traveller — who stays where
No time to read? Here is the short answer by type. Every point is unpacked further down.
- First trip, 1–2 nights. Right bank near Trường Tiền Bridge, the Vinh Ninh area. A hotel at ~$40–70, walking distance to the riverfront and restaurants, 15 minutes to the Citadel across the bridge.
- Luxury and honeymoons. Azerai La Residence (a 1930s colonial mansion by the river) or Pilgrimage Village (a garden eco-resort, 4 km from the centre). From ~$130 a night.
- Family with kids. Indochine Palace on Hùng Vương street: a huge pool, rooms from 35 m², the quiet Xuan Phu district.
- Backpacker for a night. Phạm Ngũ Lão, the backpacker street, with hostel beds from ~$5. Loud, sociable, late-night bars.
- Transit by the station. Silk Path Grand Hue, a 5★ just 100 metres from the railway station.
- Want something authentic. A homestay on the left bank by the Citadel. Cheaper, quieter, but 20 minutes on foot to the restaurants.
The area map: right bank vs left bank

The Perfume River cuts Hue in half, and understanding the difference between the banks matters before you book: it changes not just the price but the shape of your trip.
| Bank | What's there | Tourist hotels | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Left (north), Old City | Imperial Citadel, Đông Ba market, local neighbourhoods | Few, ~5% of the total | Atmosphere lovers, homestays, 3+ night stays |
| Right (south), New Quarter | Lê Lợi riverfront, restaurants, bars, An Cựu market | 95% of the total | Most people — everything within walking distance |
Two bridges link the banks: Trường Tiền (the main pedestrian-and-car bridge, lit up at night) and Phú Xuân (car only, further west). From Trường Tiền it is a 15-minute walk to the Citadel.
- Azerai La Residence (Lê Lợi): 1930s colonial mansion — 2,900,000–5,900,000 VND (~$125–250) | salt-water pool
- Pilgrimage Village (130 Minh Mạng): Garden eco-resort, 4 km from centre — 1,900,000–4,200,000 VND (~$80–180) | shuttle 4×/day
- Indochine Palace (105A Hùng Vương): Huge pool, family-friendly — 2,100,000–4,700,000 VND (~$90–200) | rooms from 35 m²
- Meliá Vinpearl Hue (50A Hùng Vương): Citadel views from up high — 1,300,000–2,800,000 VND (~$55–120) | cheapest 5★
- Silk Path Grand Hue (2 Lê Lợi): 100 m from the train station — 1,300,000–2,600,000 VND (~$55–110) | rooftop pool
- Imperial Citadel (Đại Nội): Left bank, Old City — Homestays ~$15–25, 5 min walk away
- Trường Tiền Bridge (Cầu Trường Tiền): Main bridge, lit up at night — Landmark: 15 min walk to the Citadel
- Backpacker street (Phạm Ngũ Lão): Hostels from ~$5, bars till 1 am — Loud, party vibe
Distances from Trường Tiền Bridge
| Spot | Distance | How to get there |
|---|---|---|
| Imperial Citadel (Ngọ Môn gate) | 1.2 km | 15 min walk |
| Đông Ba market | 350 m | 5 min walk |
| Backpacker street Phạm Ngũ Lão | 1 km | 12 min walk |
| Railway station | 1.8 km | 5 min by Grab |
| Phú Bài airport | 15 km | 20–25 min by taxi |
| Pilgrimage Village | 4 km | 12 min by taxi |
| Indochine Palace | 1.7 km | 5 min by taxi |
Tourist Hue is compact. Pick a hotel within 800 metres of the bridge and you can walk to everything except the royal tombs (those need a Grab or a motorbike taxi).
The right bank, district by district
The right bank isn't one block. Inside it are four zones with different characters and prices.
Vinh Ninh — the heart of the New Quarter
The most touristy part of Hue. The main streets are Hùng Vương (running north–south, busy, motorbikes around the clock) and Lê Lợi (along the riverfront, quieter, but there's traffic). This is where the 4★ and 5★ cluster: Imperial, Meliá Vinpearl, Silk Path Grand, Romance, Moonlight. It is a 5–10 minute walk to Trường Tiền Bridge, and the riverfront is right there.
Best for: travellers on any budget, anyone who wants "everything nearby," families.
Downside: on Hùng Vương, street-facing rooms hear motorbikes from 5 am. When you book, ask for a room facing the courtyard.
Phu Hoi — the backpacker street, Phạm Ngũ Lão
Hue's answer to Bùi Viện in Ho Chi Minh City, only smaller and mellower. The narrow lanes of Phạm Ngũ Lão, Chu Văn An and Võ Thị Sáu are bars, hostels, hammock cafés, tour desks, kebab stands and massage shops. Prices run from ~$5 a hostel bed to ~$40 for a decent 3★. Nights are loud: live music from the bars until 1 am.
Best for: backpackers, solo travellers, anyone who's here to party and doesn't mind noise.
Downside: noise, crowds, drunks at night. Not the spot for families or couples over 35.
Xuan Phu — the east of the city
A little off to the side of the tourist chaos, closer to Indochine Palace and Tịnh Tâm park. Quieter, greener, lower buildings. Fewer hotels, but higher quality: Indochine Palace, boutiques, aparthotels for longer stays.
Best for: families with kids, couples, 3+ night stays, remote workers.
Downside: the riverfront and restaurants are a 10–15 minute walk or ~30,000 VND (~$1.20) on Grab.
The outskirts — eco-resorts to the south
Four to eight kilometres from the centre you'll find a handful of garden eco-resorts: Pilgrimage Village, Vedana Lagoon (35 km north), villa complexes. Quiet, a pool, a spa, a restaurant on site. But without a shuttle or a Grab, you can't leave.
Best for: honeymoons, a break from cities, nature lovers.
Downside: for the Citadel and the tombs you'll have to head into town every day.
Getting set up in Vietnam?
SIM, visas, transfers, tours — our manager sorts it out for you, in English.
Message the managerThe left bank: is it worth staying by the Citadel?

The north bank is "old Hue," where the Vietnamese live. There are almost no tall tourist hotels here. Instead you get homestays at ~$15–25 a night, small guesthouses and the odd boutique. The vibe is local: Đông Ba market in the morning, fruit vendors, kids in school uniform, not a single Western menu. A dawn jog along the riverfront (quieter here than on the right bank) and coffee at a family café with no English — that is what experienced travellers come for.
Pros:
- The Citadel is a 5–10 minute walk — you can arrive at sunrise before the crowds
- Prices are 20–30% lower than the right bank
- Authentic, few tourists
- Great for a second or third trip, or for anyone staying 4+ nights
Cons:
- The choice of hotels is small — book ahead
- It is a 15–20 minute walk across the bridge to the right bank's restaurants and bars
- Less English-speaking staff
- The area is empty and a bit dark at night
Best for: seasoned travellers, homestay lovers, anyone staying 3+ nights who wants "another Hue." If you're planning early morning starts to the Citadel and the tombs, read the Hue attractions guide — it lays out a day route hour by hour.
Luxury hotels in Hue ($120+ a night)

Hue has only about eight true 5★ hotels, and each has its own character. The international giants — Hyatt, Marriott — aren't here: the market is small, so boutiques and local groups hold the ground. The competition shows in the details: complimentary evening cocktails, free bicycles, late checkout on request. In Ho Chi Minh City you'd pay half as much again for that service.
Azerai La Residence
A 1930s colonial mansion, once the home of the French Resident Supérieur. 122 rooms and suites on 2.5 hectares right on the Perfume River, a 10-minute walk from Phú Xuân Bridge. Art deco, white façades, high ceilings, parquet floors. The big salt-water pool is one of the best in the city.
- Price: ~$125–250 a night, from ~$147 in high season (January–March)
- Known for: the Le Parfum restaurant with French-Vietnamese food, Azerai Spa, a library of 1930s books
- Best for: honeymoons, colonial-style lovers, anyone who wants the "definitive" Hue
- Where: Lê Lợi street, the western end of the riverfront, coordinates 16.4654, 107.5797
💬 "Beautiful building, exquisite deco design, wonderful restaurant, terrific large pool" — guest review, Tripadvisor, 2025
Pilgrimage Village
An eco-resort 4 km south of the centre. Not a "hotel" in the usual sense — more a themed village: tile-roofed bungalows, paths through gardens, two pools, a lotus pond. The architecture nods to traditional Vietnamese houses; the materials are wood, stone and thatch.
- Price: ~$80–180 a night
- Known for: a 3-hectare garden, the Vana spa, the Junrei restaurant with local cuisine
- Best for: couples, anyone who needs quiet, eco-aesthetic lovers
- Where: 130 Minh Mạng, 12 minutes by taxi from the centre, coordinates 16.4368, 107.5832
Rated 9.4 on Booking. The main drawback is the distance from restaurants and sights: you need the shuttle (free, four times a day) or a Grab.
💬 "Spacious 50 m² bungalow-rooms, would be worth six stars if such a thing existed. Service on the level of the world's best hotels, 15 minutes to the centre by shuttle" — from a review, Tripadvisor, 2025
Indochine Palace
A large 5★ in the Xuan Phu area, on the eastern side of the right bank. A huge outdoor pool with loungers under palms, a lobby with stained glass, rooms from 35 square metres with an open bath. The style is modern luxe with Eastern motifs.
- Price: ~$90–200 a night
- Known for: the pool (one of the largest in Hue), banquet halls for weddings, a 24-hour gym
- Best for: families with kids (the pool!), business visits, anyone who wants a "normal" big 5★
- Where: 105A Hùng Vương, coordinates 16.4569, 107.6038
Rated 4.5/5 on Tripadvisor. Downside: a few in-room details fall short of the brand — dated electronics, occasional light issues.
Meliá Vinpearl Hue
A 33-storey tower right in the centre. The best views of the Citadel and the Perfume River are from the upper floors. An indoor pool (not outdoor — a minus in summer), the YHI spa, two restaurants. Three minutes on foot to the riverfront.
- Price: ~$55–120 a night — the most affordable 5★ in Hue
- Known for: the views, the central location, an 8th-floor indoor pool, a sky bar
- Best for: anyone who wants a 5★ at a 4★ price, height lovers
- Where: 50A Hùng Vương, coordinates 16.4615, 107.5938
#25 of 194 Hue hotels on Tripadvisor, its trump card is value for money. For rooms with a Citadel view, ask for a high floor.
Silk Path Grand Hue & Spa
The newest of the big 5★ (opened in 2019). French Indochine style, warm tones, a spa, a rooftop outdoor pool, family rooms. The location — 100 metres from the railway station — is handy if you arrive by train.
- Price: ~$55–110 a night
- Known for: a fresh fit-out, a spa, train convenience
- Best for: anyone arriving by train from Đà Nẵng or Hanoi
- Where: 2 Lê Lợi, coordinates 16.4621, 107.5919

TTC Imperial Hotel
The former plain Imperial Hotel, now under the TTC brand. Old-school: 4.5★, classic interiors, a rooftop bar with city views, a spa. The location is on Hùng Vương street, five minutes to the bridge.

- What's good: steady quality, 9.0/10 on Expedia, on-site restaurants
- Best for: couples, business, anyone who wants a classic
Hotel Saigon Morin
A colonial hotel from 1901, one of the oldest in Vietnam. Long corridors with white columns, a central courtyard with palms and a pool, an open-air restaurant. Right by Trường Tiền Bridge — ideal for walking.
- Price: ~$41–80

A modern 4★ in the centre of the New Quarter. The headline feature is a rooftop outdoor pool with a swim-up bar and a Citadel view. The buffet breakfast gets praise, the rooms are clean, the service is friendly. Rated 9.0/10.
- Price: ~$30–55
- What's good: the rooftop pool, the price, the location
- Best for: anyone after the best value for money
Eldora Hotel
A boutique 4★ on Trần Quang Khải, right by the river. A rooftop restaurant with a panorama, a spa, a pool. Quieter than the hotels on Hùng Vương — this isn't a main street.
- Price: ~$45–85
- Best for: couples, anyone who values quiet
Other solid 4★

Skip the airport queue in 5–10 min
In winter, immigration lines run 60–90 min. With Fast Track you’re met at the aircraft and taken through the priority lane. Arrange it before you fly.
Telegram managerBudget hotels and homestays ($15–30 a night)
Staying one or two nights and don't need a spa and a pool? The choice is wide and the quality is good. Hue is one of the cheapest tourist towns in Vietnam.
- The Scarlett Boutique Hotel Hue — ~$31–45, new, a rooftop restaurant, central
- Pisces Hotel — ~$20–35, a Moroccan-styled look (colours, textiles, rugs), a pool, central. Unusual for the city
- Hue Riverside Villa — ~$25–40, a boutique by the river, a quiet location
- Hue Happy Homestay — ~$15–25, a family homestay, happy hour, free breakfast, dorm options too
- STOP and GO Boutique Homestay — ~$16–30, a small boutique homestay
Book through Booking or Agoda — prices are the same, but Agoda often gives a discount when you pay by Visa/Mastercard on site. Trip.com is sometimes 5–10% cheaper.
Hostels for backpackers ($3–10 a bed)

Hue is one of the cheapest hostel towns in Vietnam. On Hostelworld there are beds from about $1.20 a night in low season. A decent dorm bed runs ~$4–8.
| Hostel | Dorm price | Features |
|---|---|---|
| a-mâze house | ~$5–8 | Maze-like interiors, central, stylish design |
| Nano Eco Hostel | ~$4–7 | Eco design, quiet, for those tired of the chaos |
| Amy 2 Hostel | ~$5–8 | Calm, café-bar, central, good reviews |
| Vietnam Backpacker Hostels Hue | ~$7–10 | Chain, tour desk, party vibe, tours on site |
| Hue Happy Homestay | ~$4–6 | Backpacker dorm, happy hour, free breakfast |
What to bring to a hostel
- A padlock for the locker (lockers are common, locks are not)
- Your own shower flip-flops
- Earplugs and a sleep mask
- A microfibre towel — not provided everywhere, or ~$1 to rent
Hotels by the river and with a Perfume River view
The Perfume River is Hue's main backdrop. Staying 2+ nights? A view is worth it. The hotels that actually have one:
| Hotel | View type | Surcharge | Worth it? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Azerai La Residence | Garden + river | Included as standard | Yes, its signature |
| Hotel Saigon Morin | Some rooms face the river | +~$10–20 | Yes, if for the atmosphere |
| Eldora Hotel | River view + rooftop | +~$15 | Yes, if staying 2+ nights |
| Meliá Vinpearl Hue | From the 15th floor up | +~$10–25 | Yes, the best views in town |
| Silk Path Grand Hue | Partial | +~$10 | Not essential |
The rest of the hotels on Lê Lợi and Hùng Vương don't give a river view — there are buildings between them and the water.
Hotels near the Citadel and the Imperial City
The Citadel is on the left bank. To be within walking distance (5–15 minutes), you have three strategies.
Strategy 1 — the right bank by Trường Tiền Bridge. Not "next to" the Citadel, but a 15-minute walk. This is Hotel Saigon Morin (10 min to the bridge, 25 to Ngọ Môn gate), Eldora, Azerai La Residence (a 20-minute walk to the Citadel). The plus: restaurants and infrastructure. The minus: crossing the bridge every time.
Strategy 2 — the left bank in the Old City. Homestays and small hotels in the blocks around the Citadel: Hue Family Homestay, La Vela Citadel, Imperial Citadel Homestay. Prices ~$20–50. The plus: the Citadel is 5–10 minutes away. The minus: it's dead in the evening, few places to eat.
Strategy 3 — just take a taxi. Going for a 5★ and want comfort? Stay on the right bank; the Citadel is ~30,000 VND (~$1.20) on Grab, 7 minutes. The Old City trade-offs aren't worth it.
Most travellers pick the first strategy. The second makes sense if you're here 4+ nights and want a slow pace.
Getting in from Phú Bài airport and the station

From Phú Bài airport (15 km from the centre)
Phú Bài is Hue's international airport, expanded in 2023 with a new terminal. It takes direct flights from Hanoi, Hồ Chí Minh, Đà Lạt and Bangkok.
| Option | Price | Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taxi (Mai Linh / Vinasun) | 200,000–250,000 VND (~$8–12) | 20–25 min | Metered, reliable |
| Grab Car | 180,000–230,000 VND (~$7–10) | 20 min | Price shown in the app upfront |
| Shared shuttle | 100,000 VND (~$4) | 30–40 min | Drops at several hotels |
| Private transfer (Klook/Bookaway) | 317,000 VND (~$12) | 20 min | Meet-and-greet with a sign |
| Public bus | 7,000 VND (~$0.30) | 50–60 min | To the bus station, then Grab |
| Hotel transfer | $0–25 | 20 min | Often included at 5★ |
The 5★ (Azerai, Indochine Palace, Meliá Vinpearl, Pilgrimage Village) run their own transfer for $15–25 — ask when you book; in low season it is sometimes free.
From Huế railway station
The station is on the right bank, Bùi Thị Xuân street. From there:
- To Silk Path Grand Hue — 100 metres on foot
- To the New Quarter centre (Hùng Vương) — 1.5 km, a Grab for ~25,000 VND (~$1) or a 20-minute walk
- To Trường Tiền Bridge — 1.8 km, 5 minutes by Grab
Arriving on the night train? A Grab pulls up a couple of minutes after you order. There are taxis at the station, but they may "forget" to start the meter. Grab is safer.
From Đà Nẵng and Hội An
The most common route: Đà Nẵng → Hue → Hội An or the reverse.
| Route | Mode | Time | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Đà Nẵng → Hue | Train | 2.5 h | 80,000–150,000 VND (~$3–6) |
| Đà Nẵng → Hue | Limousine (9-seat minivan) | 2.5 h | 200,000–280,000 VND (~$8–11) |
| Đà Nẵng → Hue | Taxi / Grab Car | 2 h | 1,200,000 VND (~$48) |
| Hội An → Hue | Limousine | 3 h | 300,000–400,000 VND (~$12–16) |
| Hội An → Hue | Hai Van Pass by motorbike | 4–6 h | $30 + rental |
The nearest big neighbour and the go-to beach base is Da Nang — that's where you head for the sea, 90 km south. For trains, buses and the Hai Van Pass, see a full Vietnam transport guide.
When to book: seasons and prices
Hue prices swing 2–2.5× between low and high season. Flexible on dates? You'll save ~$50–100 a night on a 5★.
| Season | Months | Occupancy | 4★ | 5★ | Book ahead |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High (dry) | Jan–Apr | 80–95% | ~$55–90 | ~$130–220 | 1.5–2 months |
| Shoulder (heat) | May–Sep | 50–70% | ~$35–55 | ~$90–150 | 2–3 weeks |
| Low (rains) | Oct–Nov | 30–50% | ~$25–40 | ~$80–130 | 3–5 days |
| Tet | 17 Feb 2026 | 90–100% | ~$70–120 | ~$200–300 | 2–3 months |
| Hue Festival | Apr 2026 | 95–100% | ~$80–150 | ~$250–400 | 3 months |
What to know
- Tet 2026 falls on 17 February. Small hostels and family homestays close from 14 to 20 February — staff go home to their villages. Travelling on those dates? Book the larger chains (Meliá, Silk Path, Indochine, Azerai); they run as usual.
- Hue Festival. Held in April of even years (2024, 2026, 2028). The next one is April 2026, with exact dates announced about two months out. Over those 7–10 days prices jump 1.5–2×, so book as soon as you know the dates.
- October–November. The wettest months, with occasional typhoons and floods. The tombs and Citadel can close for a day or two. Cheap but risky — take a flexible rate with free cancellation.
Weather in Hue changes the city completely — October Hue and March Hue are two different places, so check a Vietnam weather guide by month before you lock in dates.
Booking tips
A few things that save money and nerves.
Booking vs Agoda vs Trip.com
For Hue the prices are roughly the same, but there are wrinkles:
- Booking.com — a big selection, easy cancellation, sometimes ~$5 a night pricier
- Agoda — often a 10% discount via PointMAX, especially for Asian hotels
- Trip.com — sometimes 5–10% cheaper, but the interface is worse
- Hostelworld — for hostels, the best filters
- Booking direct on the hotel site — for 5★ often perks (free breakfast, late checkout), not always cheaper
Tip: check two sites at once, the gap can be real.
Windows on Hùng Vương = motorbikes from 5 am
The main New Quarter street sees a flood of motorbikes from early morning. Booking a hotel facing Hùng Vương? Be sure to ask for a courtyard-facing room. Many 3★ and 4★ don't flag this in the listing, but if you book direct they may move you.
Cash deposit
At most 3–4★ you'll be asked for a deposit of 500,000–1,000,000 VND (~$20–40) in cash, or a card hold, against the minibar and services. This is normal and fully refunded at checkout.
The room-switch window
Hue is compact; moving between hotels is a 10-minute Grab. Staying 4+ nights? You can do 2 nights at the Azerai (for the atmosphere) and 2 at the Romance Hotel (for the budget). The suitcases don't travel far.
FAQ — common questions
How many nights in Hue?
Two minimum. Day one for the Citadel and the Imperial City, day two for two or three royal tombs (Khải Định, Minh Mạng, Tự Đức). Want the DMZ, Lăng Cô or the incense village too? Add a third night.
Where's better to stay — Hue or Hoi An?
Depends on your priority. Hoi An is for the beach, shopping, street food, more "postcard." Hue is for culture, history, calm. On a 5–7 night central Vietnam trip, 2 nights in Hue + 3–4 in Hoi An works well. Staying in Hoi An and day-tripping to Hue is possible in theory, but 3 hours round-trip on the road eats into your time at the Citadel and the tombs.
Is it worth visiting Hue in the rainy season?
October–November is risky, with occasional floods. May–June is dry but the 35–40°C heat is its own test. The best compromise is January–March: dry and not too hot.
Does Hue have beaches and beach hotels?
No beaches in the city itself — Hue sits on a river, not the sea. The nearest beach, Thuận An, is 15 km away (40 minutes by taxi) with simple guesthouses. Lăng Cô is 60 km, 1.5 hours. For a beach holiday, head to Da Nang (90 km, 1.5 hours by train).
Which hotel is best for a family with kids?
Indochine Palace — a huge outdoor pool, spacious rooms from 35 m², a quiet area. The alternative is Pilgrimage Village (an eco-resort, a garden, safe for little ones), but you'll need a taxi into town.
Where to stay near the royal tombs?
The tombs are out of town, 8–18 km to the south-west. There are no dedicated tourist hotels nearby. The strategy is to stay in the New Quarter and head out in the morning by Grab or with a tour (~200,000–400,000 VND / ~$8–16). Pilgrimage Village is closer to the Tự Đức tomb (15 minutes) — handy if you're here specifically for them.
How much is a good 4★ in 2026?
On average ~$45–70 a night in high season (January–March), ~$35–50 in low season (October–November). That buys a clean 25–30 m² room, buffet breakfast, a pool, wifi and a central location. For comparison, a similar 4★ in Hanoi is ~$80–130.
Is the Phạm Ngũ Lão area safe at night?
Yes, Hue is generally very safe. The backpacker street is busy in the evening and bars run till 1–2 am. Pickpockets happen — watch your phone, don't leave a bag unattended in a café. It's safe for a solo woman, but after midnight take a Grab rather than walk into a dark alley.
Do hotels offer a free transfer?
Most 5★ do, especially when you book direct. 4★ selectively, more often in low season. 3★ and hostels almost never, but they can call a taxi at a fair price. Confirm by email before you arrive.
Can you pay by card?
At 4★ and 5★, yes (Visa, Mastercard), with a 2–3% fee. At 3★ and hostels it's hit or miss, mostly cash (dong). The exchange rate is better at a bank (Vietcombank, Sacombank) than at the hotel. ATMs are on every street in the New Quarter. Before the trip, get a feel for Vietnam prices so you know the ballpark.
What to eat near the hotel?
The city's signature dish is the spicy noodle soup bún bò Huế. Among hotel restaurants, Le Parfum (Azerai) and Junrei (Pilgrimage Village) stand out.
Pre-booking checklist
Before you pay for a hotel, check:
- Room windows: street side (loud) or alley/yard side (quiet)
- Whether breakfast is included — sometimes "buffet breakfast included" = a $10–15 add-on
- What air-con system it has — old split units are noisy at night
- The check-in deposit — usually 500,000–1,000,000 VND
- Whether the hotel takes cards or cash only
- Whether there's a free airport/station transfer
- Late checkout — often free at 4★+ until 14:00
- Bed type — King or Twin, confirm ahead
- The cancellation window — flexible rate vs non-refundable
- Wifi — weak in the far rooms of older hotels
