Shopping in Nha Trang: what to buy in 2026
500 g of factory Me Trang coffee for about $4, certified pearl earrings from ~$30, cold-pressed coconut oil for ~$2 — most things cost two to five times less than back home. Beyond the beach, Nha Trang has real shopping: markets, malls and specialist stores. Here's what to buy, where to buy it safely, and how to bargain.

The two main pitfalls: at markets, prices for foreigners are marked up two to three times, and the "pearls" and "crocodile leather" in souvenir stalls are often fakes. Below is where to buy safely, what is actually worth carrying home, and how the bargaining game works.
Prices are in Vietnamese dong (VND) with a rough USD conversion at ~25,000 VND = $1. Markets and small shops are cash only; malls and brand stores take Visa and Mastercard. Current for 2026.
- Chợ Đầm Market (Chợ Đầm): Nha Trang's biggest market, 100+ years old — 05:00–18:30 | Spices, coffee, souvenirs
- Xóm Mới Market (Chợ Xóm Mới): Non-touristy market, local prices — Groceries, fruit, seafood
- Vĩnh Hải North Market (Chợ Vĩnh Hải): Lowest prices, few tourists — Seafood, coffee, durian
- Night Market (Night Market): Souvenirs, street food, live music — 19:00–22:00, across from the beach
- Nha Trang Center (20 Trần Phú): Main tourist mall, 100 m from the beach — 09:00–22:00 | Food court with sea view
- Lotte Mart (58 Lê Thánh Tôn): Best spot to stock up on souvenirs — 07:30–22:00 | Frequent promos
- Vincom Plaza (44–46 Lê Thánh Tôn): Cinema, clothing, kids goods — 09:30–22:00
- GO! (Big C) (Lê Hồng Phong): Hypermarket, lowest prices — 08:00–22:00
- Gold Coast Mall (Next to NTC, Trần Phú): 200+ shops, entertainment — 09:00–22:00
- AB Central (Trần Phú, seafront): Boutiques, Korean cosmetics — 09:00–22:00
- Sapphire Store (90 Trần Phú): Pearls, jewellery, coffee, cosmetics — Tour-bus stop, fixed prices
Coffee and tea — the signature Nha Trang buy

Vietnam is the world's second-largest coffee grower after Brazil. Nha Trang has its own Me Trang factory, and Trung Nguyên brand stores are on nearly every corner. If you take home one thing, make it coffee.
Which coffee to pick
The main Vietnamese bean is robusta. It is stronger than arabica, full-bodied with a bitter edge — the base of the famous Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk (cà phê sữa đá).
| Type | Taste | For whom | Price per 500 g |
|---|---|---|---|
| Robusta | Strong, rich, bitter edge | Espresso drinkers | 80,000–120,000 VND (~$3.20–4.80) |
| Arabica | Softer, with acidity | Filter and pour-over | from 150,000 VND (~$6) |
| Culi | Dense, oily | Gourmets | from 180,000 VND (~$7.20) |
| Weasel (Luwak) | Smooth, no bitterness | A splurge gift | 500,000–2,000,000 VND per 100 g |
Brands worth trying:
- Me Trang — the local Nha Trang brand. Its Ocean Blue line was made for the city. 500 g runs about 108,000 VND (~$4.30)
- Trung Nguyên — Vietnam's biggest brand. The Legend line is the premium tier
- Highlands Coffee — a Vietnamese café chain that also sells packaged beans
Don't forget a phin (phin) — the little Vietnamese drip filter. It costs 15,000–50,000 VND (~$0.60–2) and lasts for years.
Vietnamese tea
- Artichoke tea — herbal, said to be good for the liver. From 50,000 VND (~$2) per 100 g
- Lotus tea — fragrant and delicate. From 60,000 VND (~$2.40)
- Ginger tea — warming, loose or in bags
Where to buy coffee in Nha Trang
| Shop | What they stock | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| VietFarm | Loose coffee (10+ kinds), tea, spices | Taste before you buy |
| Me Trang Store | Full Me Trang line | Brand store, no markup |
| Trung Nguyên E-Coffee | Trung Nguyên Legend, S | Café plus shop |
| Lotte Mart / GO! | All the main brands | Cheaper, smaller range |
💬 "Brought 3 kg of Me Trang home and it lasted half a year — every morning it took me back to Nha Trang. The same bag costs three times as much where I live." — traveller review on Tripadvisor, 2025
The savings are real: 500 g of Me Trang robusta costs ~$4 here versus $9–14 for a comparable bag in a Western supermarket. Over 3 kg the gap is $20–30 — enough to justify half a suitcase of coffee.
Pearls in Nha Trang — how to choose and where to buy

Nha Trang is one of Vietnam's pearl-trading centres. There are cultured-pearl farms offshore, and prices run 30–40% below European ones. The catch: you have to buy in the right places.
Types of pearl
| Type | Features | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Freshwater | Cheaper, varied shapes | from 75,000 VND (~$3) a pair of earrings |
| Cultured saltwater | Round, lustrous | from 750,000 VND (~$30) a pair |
| Natural saltwater | Rare, top grade | from 5,000,000 VND (~$200) a necklace |
Colours: white (the classic), gold (South China Sea), pink and black (the most expensive).
How to tell a real pearl from a fake
- The tooth test — rub the pearl gently against your teeth. A real one feels slightly gritty; plastic is smooth
- The friction test — rub two pearls together. Real ones catch slightly; fakes slide
- Weight — natural pearls are heavier than plastic
- Surface — a real pearl has micro-imperfections; a fake is flawlessly smooth
Trusted pearl shops
| Shop | Guarantee | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Long Beach Pearl | 1 year on settings, lifetime on the pearls | Mid to high end |
| Princess Jewelry | Certificate of authenticity | Mid range |
| Angkor Treasure | Yes | Popular with tour groups |
Long Beach Pearl is the largest chain, with branches in Nha Trang, at Cam Ranh airport, on Phu Quoc and in Ho Chi Minh City. It gives a certificate and a guarantee — if a pearl dulls, they replace it.
💬 "Bought earrings at Long Beach Pearl for $30 — a year of wear later they still shine like new. A friend grabbed a $5 pair at the market and they went dull in a month." — traveller review on Tripadvisor, 2025
Skip the airport queue in 5–10 min
In winter, immigration lines run 60–90 min. With Fast Track you’re met at the aircraft and taken through the priority lane. Arrange it before you fly.
Telegram managerBird's nest — Nha Trang's signature delicacy
Khánh Hòaprovince, whose capital is Nha Trang, is Vietnam's main centre for edible bird's nest. The province manages 32 islands with 169 caves where swiftlets build their nests.
Bird's nest (yến sào) is treated as a superfood — collagen, amino acids, minerals. It goes into soups and drinks, and even into face masks.

- T-shirts with Vietnamese motifs — 50,000–70,000 VND (~$2–2.80) at markets
- The Vietnamese conical hat nón lá — 30,000–80,000 VND (~$1.20–3.20). Pretty, but fragile in a suitcase
Markets sell knock-offs of Nike, Adidas and The North Face. The quality matches the price — one or two washes and they're done.

Getting set up in Vietnam?
SIM, visas, transfers, tours — our manager sorts it out for you, in English.
Message the managerElectronics — worth buying?
Electronics in Vietnam run 10–15% below typical Western prices, but there are catches.
Pros:
- iPhone and Samsung are noticeably cheaper on flagships
- Genuine stock in chain stores (FPT Shop, Thế Giới Di Động)
Cons:
- Warranty is local (Vietnam-only)
- Chargers come with a Vietnamese plug (an adapter costs pennies, though)
- Laptop keyboards are QWERTY-Vietnamese — no other layouts
Verdict: only flagship phones, where the price gap is real, make it worth it. On budget devices the saving is marginal, and you lose the international warranty.
Where to buy — Nha Trang's markets

Chợ Đầm market (Chợ Đầm)
Nha Trang's biggest market, over a century old. Two floors, hundreds of vendors. Hours: 05:00–18:30.
What to buy: dried fruit and dried seafood, spices and seasonings, souvenirs and magnets, coffee and tea (though VietFarm is cheaper).
What NOT to buy: pearls (mostly fakes), "branded" clothing (low-grade copies), electronics (no warranty).
Night Market
Open 19:00–22:00, across from the central beach. More of an evening stroll than a serious shop. Souvenirs, magnets, street food. Prices run higher than Chợ Đầm, but the atmosphere is worth it — live music, lights and the smell of grills.
Xóm Mới market (Sóm Mới)
The "non-tourist" market — mostly locals shop here, and prices are noticeably below Chợ Đầm. A great place to stock up on groceries if you've rented an apartment.
Vĩnh Hải north market
The lowest prices in town. Civet-bean coffee, giant prawns, the freshest seafood. It is far from the tourist strip — take a taxi or a Grab bike.
Nha Trang's shopping malls

Fixed prices, air-conditioning, a warranty on what you buy, and cards accepted. Malls are the easy choice if bargaining isn't your thing.
| Mall | Location | Hours | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nha Trang Center | Seafront, centre | 09:00–22:00 | Clothing, souvenirs, sea-view food court |
| Lotte Mart | 2 km from centre | 07:30–22:00 | Groceries, promos, big range |
| Vincom Plaza | 2 locations | 09:30–22:00 | Cinema, clothing, kids goods |
| Gold Coast Mall | Next to NTC | 09:00–22:00 | 200+ shops, entertainment |
| AB Central | Seafront | 09:00–22:00 | Boutiques, Korean cosmetics |
| GO! (Big C) | 3 km from centre | 08:00–22:00 | Lowest prices, hypermarket |
| Mega Market | West of the city | 08:00–22:00 | Wholesale prices, bulk packs |
Nha Trang Centeris the main tourist mall, 100 metres from the central beach. There's a WinMart supermarket downstairs and a food court with a sea view on the third floor.
Lotte Mart is the best all-round spot for souvenirs and groceries, with frequent promos. Getting there: bus #2 or a taxi (50,000–80,000 VND / ~$2–3.20 from the centre).
The Sapphire store in Nha Trang
Sapphire is one of the most talked-about shops among tour groups. Excursion buses bring visitors here for "factory prices" on jewellery, coffee and cosmetics.
What's on sale:pearls, gemstone jewellery, coffee, artichoke tea, Vietnamese cosmetics, bird's nest.
Worth it?Opinions split. Some visitors like the range and the fixed prices; others find them inflated — the same goods sell for less around town. Prices are fixed here, so there's no bargaining to be done.
Addresses: 90 Trần Phú (opposite the Lotus), plus 115 and 127 Nguyễn Thiện Thuật — around nine outlets across the tourist quarter, easy to spot by the blue signage.
Practical shopping tips
How to bargain
Bargaining works at markets and small street shops. In malls and brand stores prices are fixed — don't bother.
- Start at 40–50% of the first quote
- Don't show strong interest — stay casual as you look
- If the vendor won't budge, walk away. You'll often get called back with a better price
- Buying several things from one seller? Ask for a bulk discount
- Morning is the best time — vendors believe the first buyer of the day brings luck
Useful market phrases
| Phrase | Vietnamese | Roughly |
|---|---|---|
| How much? | Bao nhiêu tiền? | bao nyew tien? |
| Too expensive! | Đắt quá! | dat kwa! |
| Cheaper, please | Giảm giá đi! | zam za dee! |
| Thank you | Cảm ơn | kam un |
| No, thanks | Không, cảm ơn | khong, kam un |
Paying — cash or card
- Cash (VND) — the default at markets and small shops. Withdraw at ATMs (fee usually ~50,000 VND / ~$2 per transaction); many charge more, so take out a larger amount at once
- Visa / Mastercard — accepted in malls, brand stores and supermarkets
- USD — some market vendors take it unofficially, but the rate is poor. Pay in dong
- Cards abroad — a foreign Visa/Mastercard works fine at ATMs and malls; check your bank's foreign-transaction fee before you travel
VAT refund (Tax Free)
Vietnam offers a 10% VAT refund for foreign visitors.
Conditions:
- Spend at least 2,000,000 VND (~$80) in one shop on one day
- The shop takes part in the Tax Refund scheme (look for the sticker)
- Bring your passport
- Claim it at the airport before departure
In practice not every shop participates. Ask at the till: "Tax refund?"
What you can't take out — customs rules
Before you pack, check the limits — both leaving Vietnam and entering your home country.
| Item | Leaving Vietnam | Notes for home country |
|---|---|---|
| Alcohol | No limit | Most countries allow 1–3 l duty-free per adult |
| Coffee, tea, spices | No limit | Reasonable amounts for personal use |
| Bird's nest | Up to 1 kg, receipt required | May need to declare (animal product) |
| Pearls and jewellery | Receipt required | Declare above your country's value threshold |
| Fresh fruit | Allowed out | Often banned without a phytosanitary certificate |
| Dried fruit, chips | No limit | Usually fine |
| Buddha statues | Export restricted | — |
| Antiques | Permit required | Declare |
| Exotic leather (croc, python) | Receipt required | CITES rules apply — many countries need a permit |

FAQ
What is worth buying in Nha Trang?
Coffee (two to three times cheaper than at home), natural cosmetics (three to five times cheaper), leather goods (30–50% cheaper) and pearls (30–40% below European prices). Bird's nest and Vietnamese silk are the high-end picks.
Should I buy pearls at the market?
No. Travellers estimate up to 90% of the "pearls" at Chợ Đầm and the Night Market are plastic or glass. The safe option is a certified shop like Long Beach Pearl or Princess Jewelry, which give a certificate and a replacement guarantee.
Can I pay by card in Nha Trang shops?
In malls and brand stores, yes — Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted. At markets and small stalls it is cash only. Carry enough VND for the markets and keep your card for the malls; check your bank's foreign-transaction fee before you travel.
Where is cheaper — the market or the mall?
It depends on the item. Food and groceries are cheaper at the market if you bargain. Clothing, electronics and cosmetics are often the same price or lower in malls, with a quality guarantee on top.
Can you bargain in the malls?
No. Mall prices are fixed. Bargaining only works at markets and small street shops.
What should I bring back from Nha Trang as a gift?
The crowd-pleasers: Me Trang coffee (~$4 for 500 g), coconut candy (~$1.50), cashews (~$6 for 500 g). For something special, certified pearl earrings from ~$30 or a box of bird's nest from ~$100.
Is there any shopping in Nha Trang?
Yes, and it is decent. The city has seven large malls, four markets and dozens of specialist shops. Nha Trang is no Bangkok, but for a beach town the choice is wide. For the full picture of the city, see our Nha Trang guide and the beaches.
