Da Nang weather month by month in 2026
Average 25.8 °C (78 °F) and 2,574 mm of rain a year, split into a dry and a rainy season — and the gap is huge. March gives you 20 mm of rain and 6 hours of sun a day; October dumps 650 mm under solid cloud. Here is when to go, what to skip, and what to pack.

Đà Nẵng is Vietnam's fifth-largest city and the gateway to the central region: half an hour to Hoi An, two hours to Hue, 40 minutes by cable car to Ba Na Hills. The weather quietly decides where you go first — a wet October reshuffles the whole trip.

March and April are the golden window: least rain, pleasant heat, 6–8 hours of sun. From May the heat ramps up, but rain stays bearable through late August. September to November is another story entirely.
Da Nang's climate — dry and rainy season

Da Nang sits in central Vietnam at 16° north, with a tropical monsoon climate. Here is the catch for anyone who knows the south (Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc): the seasons are flipped. Down south the rain comes in summer; in Da Nang summer is dry and it is winter that gets wet.
Dry season (February to August)
Rain runs from 20 to 150 mm a month, humidity 78–85%, and the sea warms from 24 to 30 °C. Two sub-periods:
- February to April — warm spring. 26–30 °C, great for day trips to Hoi An and the Marble Mountains, and quiet enough to dodge the crowds.
- May to August — hot summer. 33–35 °C, sea 28–30 °C. Peak beach time at Mỹ Khê and Non Nuoc.
Rainy season (September to January)
The peak is October and November: up to 650 mm a month and 20-plus rainy days. To put that in perspective, Da Nang gets more rain in a single October than London does in a whole year.
The upside: room rates drop 30–40%, beaches empty out, and everything is at its greenest. The downside is the surf. The sea churns and red flags go up at My Khe — though that is exactly what surfers come for.
Da Nang in January to March

January is the tail of the rainy season. Days around 25 °C, sea 24 °C. Rain still shows up (80–100 mm) but without storms. Great for sightseeing: cross the Hai Van Pass to Hue without the heat, and room rates run 30–40% lower.
February is the turning point. Rainfall drops sharply to 25–35 mm. One thing to plan around: Vietnamese New Year (Tết) closes some restaurants for 3–5 days, but the riverfront fills with festivals and fireworks.
March is the golden month. 20–30 mm of rain, 6 hours of sun, 29 °C days. The best time for Ba Na Hills: clear skies, no fog on the peaks, the Golden Bridge looking like the postcard.
"March in Da Nang was excellent — dry, warm, but without the brutal heat. We swam every day, even if the water wasn't as warm as summer yet." — traveller reviews on Tripadvisor, 2025

Telegram managerDa Nang in April to June

April kicks off the beach season. 31 °C, sea 26 °C, 7 hours of sun. Warm already, but before the real furnace of summer — and cheaper than the peak months.
May brings 34 °C and 28 °C water. Good for diving around the Cù Lao Chàm islands: clear water, 15–20 m visibility. A trip runs from about 1,500,000 VND (~$60).
June is peak heat: 35 °C, 8 hours of sun. It is also peak tourist season — a four-star beachfront hotel starts around 2,000,000 VND (~$80) a night. Book 2–3 months ahead.
Da Nang in July to September

July is almost a copy of June, just a touch more humid. 35 °C, sea 30 °C. My Khe is packed on weekends — hit the beach before 9 a.m. or after 4 p.m.
August is transitional. Rain climbs to 110–150 mm. Beach days are still on, but prices are already easing. A surf lesson at My Khe runs from about 1,000,000 VND (~$40).
September ends the summer. 300–400 mm of rain, red flags at My Khe. A four-star hotel drops from 2,000,000 to around 1,200,000 VND (~$48).

Message the managerDa Nang in October to December
October is the worst month. 500–650 mm of rain and typhoons; the sea is closed. If you have a choice, don't plan Da Nang for October.
November is still wet (350–470 mm), but the peak is passing. Surf season begins with 2–3 m waves, and rain eases toward the end of the month.
December sees the rain calm down (150–250 mm) but turn cool: around 25 °C. The paradox is that New Year holidays push rates up 20–30% even though the weather is far from ideal. If you want warm water in winter, Phu Quoc down south is 30 °C and dry.
Sea temperature in Da Nang
Swimming is comfortable 8–9 months a year, from March through November.
| Period | Sea temp | Feel | Best beaches |
|---|---|---|---|
| December to February | 23–24 °C | Fresh | My Khe (south end) |
| March to April | 25–26 °C | Comfortable | All beaches open |
| May to September | 28–30 °C | Perfect | My Khe, Non Nuoc, Bac My An |
| October to November | 26–27 °C | Warm, but rough | Son Tra beaches |
Even when the water is warm, open beaches get choppy in October–November. The fix is the sheltered bays of the Sơn Trà peninsula (Bãi Bụt, Tiên Sa) — calmer there.
