Nha Trang with kids: beaches, hotels and things to do in 2026
Nha Trang gets around 280 sunny days a year, a 7 km city beach and a 30-minute transfer from Cam Ranh airport. VinWonders keeps a child busy for a whole day, and lunch for a family of three runs 300,000–400,000 VND (~$12–16). Here is how to plan it as a foreign family.

Nha Trang is one of Vietnam's easiest resorts to travel to with children: a short airport transfer, a compact seafront where everything is walkable, and a whole day's worth of theme park within sight of the shore. But it has quirks. The city beach can turn murky after a storm, winter brings a real swell and red flags, and the Lộc Thọ quarter gets loud with bars in the evening.
Below, in order: which beach suits which age, what to do, where to stay, how to feed a fussy eater, and the mistakes to avoid.
Why Nha Trang for a family
The airport is close. Cam Ranh is a 30-minute drive from the centre. Compare that with Mui Ne (a 4–5 hour road transfer from Ho Chi Minh City): with a jet-lagged child after a long-haul flight, every extra minute in the car is a trial.
English gets you far. Nha Trang is a mature tourist town — most restaurants in the tourist strip have English menus and photo menus, and Grab handles taxis and food delivery in English, so you rarely have to negotiate a fare. Card payment is common in hotels and larger restaurants; keep cash for markets and street stalls.
Plenty to do. VinWonders for a full day, mud baths for half a day, Monkey Island, an aquarium, snorkelling trips and the nightly market. A child aged 3 to 12 will not be bored for a single day.
Good value. Nha Trang runs 20–30% cheaper than Phu Quoc on hotels and food. A 4-star hotel with a kids' pool starts around $45–55 a night, and lunch for a family from 300,000 VND (~$12). For the same money on Phu Quoc you get a lower class of hotel.
The downsides: the city beach gets crowded in peak season, the bar strip on Trần Phú is noisy at night, there is winter swell, and litter washes up after storms. All of it is solved by choosing the right district and the right beach.
Best beaches for children

- City Beach (Bãi biển Nha Trang): 7 km, gentle entry, winter swell — Full infrastructure
- Paragon Beach (South Beach): Wave-free lagoon, shallow water — Best for toddlers 0–5
- Bai Dai (Bãi Dài): White sand, 50–100 m of shallows — 25 km from centre
- Doc Let (Dốc Lết): Quiet beach, white sand — 50 km from centre
- VinWonders (Hòn Tre): Theme park with water park — Ticket: 880,000 VND (~$35)
The question every parent asks: where in Nha Trang can you swim with a child without waves? The answer depends on age.
| Beach | From centre | Water entry | Waves | Age |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| City beach (Trần Phú) | 0 km | gentle | strong in winter | 5+ |
| Paragon (South Beach) | 5 km | shallow | none (lagoon) | 0–5 |
| Bai Dai (Bãi Dài) | 25 km | shallow, 50–100 m | weak | all |
| Doc Let (Dốc Lết) | 50 km | gentle | weak | all |
Paragon is the one beach in Nha Trang where you never have to think about waves. It is an enclosed lagoon, knee-deep for a child 20–30 metres out, with clean sand and a flat bottom. The catch: it is small, and busy at weekends. From the centre a Grab is 50,000–70,000 VND (~$2–3).
💬 "Paragon is the best spot for little ones in Nha Trang. A wave-free lagoon, shallow water, clean sand — we came back every day." — Tripadvisor, 2025
Bai Dai (Bãi Dài) is the best beach for anyone willing to drive 25 km. White sand and shallows that run 50–100 metres from shore, so even a toddler can splash safely. Facilities are basic: loungers from 50,000 VND, cafés serving phở and rice. A taxi from the centre is 350,000–400,000 VND (~$14–16) one way.
The city beach is handy because it is two minutes from your hotel. But from November to January a swell builds and red flags close the water. In winter, take toddlers to Paragon or Bai Dai instead. In the dry season (February–August) the city beach works for kids 5 and up: gentle entry, lifeguards, and cafés and shops along the promenade.
Doc Let (Dốc Lết) is the farthest (50 km) but the emptiest. It is an hour by taxi (600,000–700,000 VND one way). Worth it? If you want a day on an all-but-deserted white-sand beach, yes. Bring water, snacks and a beach umbrella.

Things to do — where to take a child

| Place | Price (adult) | Age | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| VinWonders | 880,000 VND (~$35) | 3+ | full day |
| Aquarium | 150,000 VND (~$6) | any | 1–2 hours |
| I-Resort mud baths | 300,000 VND (~$12) | any | 2–3 hours |
| 100 Egg Mud Bath | 250,000 VND (~$10) | any | 2–3 hours |
| Monkey Island | 100,000 VND (~$4) | 3+ | 3–4 hours |
| Water puppet theatre | 150,000 VND (~$6) | 4+ | 1 hour |
| Gorky Park | free | any | 1–2 hours |
VinWonders is the reason kids ask to come back to Nha Trang. Water park, rides, a dolphin show, an aquarium and toddler zones — all on Hòn Tre island, reached by a cable car strung over the sea. Children under 100 cm go free. Give it a full day: arrive at opening (9:00) and leave at close.
Mud baths are an unexpected kids' favourite. I-Resort and 100 Egg Mud Bath offer warm mineral-mud tubs, pools and slides. The mud is skin-safe, and children usually love it.
Monkey Island (Hòn Lao) is a petting-zoo island where monkeys roam free and you can feed them. Be careful with under-3s: the monkeys can snatch food straight out of a hand.
Snorkelling trips suit kids from 6. Boat trips to Hòn Mun and Hòn Tằm islands start at 500,000 VND (~$20), including lunch and a mask.
The nightly seafront market runs every evening — souvenirs, fruit, street food and toys. Kids love picking out magnets and trying coconut ice cream (from 20,000 VND).

Family hotels — where to stay

| Hotel | Stars | Per night | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vinpearl Resort | 5★ | from ~$130 | All-inclusive + VinWonders |
| Amiana Resort | 5★ | from ~$110 | Quiet stay with toddlers |
| Novotel | 4★ | from ~$55 | Kids eat breakfast free |
| Liberty Central | 4★ | from ~$45 | Central, rooftop pool |
Vinpearl Resort Nha Trang sits on its own island, Hòn Tre. The big draw: VinWonders and a beach on site. The trade-off is isolation — you need the cable car or a boat to reach town.
Novotel is in the centre, across the road from the beach — the best value in the 4-star bracket. Kids under 16 eat breakfast free.
For the full line-up, see our Nha Trang hotels guide.
Skip the airport queue in 5–10 min
In winter, immigration lines run 60–90 min. With Fast Track you’re met at the aircraft and taken through the priority lane. Arrange it before you fly.

The centre (Trần Phú seafront) is the main tourist zone. Restaurants, shops and the beach are all on foot — noisy in the evening, but no transport needed.
Lộc Thọ is the compact, walkable strip just back from the water, packed with family-friendly restaurants, mini-marts and pharmacies. Lots of families with children, and about 10 minutes on foot to the beach.
The north (Bãi Dài) means quiet and the best beaches, but 20–30 minutes by taxi to town. Best if you have a car or a driver.
| Situation | District | Why |
|---|---|---|
| First time in Vietnam | Lộc Thọ | Everything close, easy to navigate |
| Toddler under 3 | North (Bãi Dài) | Quiet, best beach |
| Kids 5–12 | Centre (Trần Phú) | Close to VinWonders |

Food for kids — where to eat

Feeding a picky eater in Nha Trang is easy: the tourist strip is full of international menus — pizza, pasta, grilled chicken, fruit smoothies — alongside the Vietnamese food. A family meal averages 300,000–500,000 VND (~$12–20).
If you want to try the local kitchen with a child, start here:
- Phở — a light noodle soup, fine from age 2. From 40,000 VND (~$1.60)
- Cơm gà — chicken and rice, from 35,000 VND (~$1.40)
- Bánh mì — a filled baguette, 20,000–30,000 VND (~$0.80–1.20)
- Gỏi cuốn — fresh (unfried) spring rolls, gentle on the stomach
To order things not spicy, say "không cay." Supermarkets like WinMart and Go! (formerly Big C) stock familiar snacks, milk, cereal and nappies (diapers), so anything you run out of is easy to replace.
When to go to Nha Trang with kids

| September–October | Rain, swell | 27–30 °C | poor |

February to April is the sweet spot. Warm, dry, calm seas — fewer crowds than the New Year peak, and lower prices.
From November to January the city beach flies red flags every other day. If you are travelling in winter, base yourself near Paragon or Bai Dai.

Practical tips
Airport transfer: a Grab from Cam Ranh to the centre is 280,000–350,000 VND (~$11–14). With a child it can be easier to pre-book a transfer through your hotel — a meet-and-greet with a name board and help with bags. It costs a little more: 400,000–500,000 VND.
Getting around: Grab is the main way to move. A 7-seat GrabCar for the family covers 10 km for about 100,000 VND (~$4). The centre is walkable, though a stroller isn't always easy — scooters park on the pavements.
Visas: most nationalities (US, UK, EU, Australia and more) need a Vietnam e-visa, which you apply for online at the official evisa.gov.vn — a separate e-visa for each family member, including children, so allow a few working days before you fly. A handful of passports get a short visa-free window; check your own before booking.
Health and insurance: get family travel insurance that covers children and medical evacuation before you leave — local care is fine for minor issues but you want cover for anything serious. Vinmec and VK Hospital handle foreigners in English; pharmacies (nhà thuốc) are on every street. Pack a small kids' kit: paracetamol/ibuprofen for children, rehydration salts, an antihistamine and any regular medication in its original packaging.
Money: ATMs are everywhere; withdraw VND rather than paying card fees on small purchases. Cards work in hotels and larger restaurants, but keep cash for markets, taxis and street food.
What to pack for a child:
- SPF 50+ sunscreen
- Mosquito repellent with DEET
- Water shoes for rocky entries
- A light layer (taxi air-con runs cold)
- Children's fever medicine, rehydration salts, an antihistamine

FAQ
Which Nha Trang beach is best for small children?
Paragon (South Beach) — the only beach with a closed lagoon and no waves. The water stays knee-deep for a child 20–30 metres out. From the centre a Grab is 50,000–70,000 VND (~$2–3). Older kids (5+) are fine on the city beach in the dry season.
How much does VinWonders cost in Nha Trang?
An adult ticket is 880,000 VND (~$35). Children under 100 cm go free. The price covers the cable car, all rides, the water park and the aquarium. Plan a full day.
When is the best time to visit Nha Trang with a child?
February to April: warm (28–32 °C), dry and calm. Avoid November to January — strong swell and rain. If you come in winter, choose Paragon or Bai Dai.
Which hotel should a family pick?
Luxury: Vinpearl Resort (from ~$130/night, VinWonders included) or Amiana (from ~$110). Mid-range: Novotel (from ~$55, kids eat breakfast free). Budget: Liberty Central (from ~$45, rooftop pool).
Is Nha Trang safe for children?
Broadly yes. The main risks are dehydration, sunburn (SPF 50+, a hat) and an upset stomach (bottled water, familiar food for the first few days). Care is available: Vinmec, VK Hospital and pharmacies on every street.
Nha Trang or Phu Quoc for a family?
Nha Trang has more to do (VinWonders, mud baths, islands) and is cheaper. Phu Quoc has better beaches, is quieter and has a safari. Toddlers under 3 — Phu Quoc. Kids 5–12 — Nha Trang.
A rough week-long plan
On a 14-day trip, the first few days go to settling in and beating jet lag. Here is an activity plan for the second week:
Day 1: City beach in the morning (or Paragon if you have a toddler). In the evening, the night market and coconut ice cream.
Day 2: VinWonders, all day. Arrive by 9:00 — rides → lunch → water park → aquarium → dolphin show.
Day 3: I-Resort mud baths (2–3 hours in the morning). Afternoon in the hotel pool.
Day 4: Day trip to Bai Dai. A whole day on white sand and shallow water.
Day 5: Monkey Island in the morning. Afternoon free, with shopping at Chợ Xóm Mới market.
Day 6: Snorkelling at Hòn Mun (kids 6+) or Paragon plus Gorky Park.
Day 7: Free day. Beach, pool, a stroll along the promenade, and the water puppet theatre.
With a child, don't plan more than one "active" outing a day. Leave room for the pool, a nap and plain old beach time.
