City sightseeing tour

Fishing boats in Nha Trang Bay against a backdrop of high-rises and mountains
Nha Trang Bay with local fishing boats - the city tour kicks off along the Tran Phu waterfront

The classic first-day move. In 4-5 hours you loop the main Nha Trang attractions- one of Vietnam's top beach resorts - in an air-conditioned coach with a guide, and get a feel for where you'll want to come back on your own.

What's on the itinerary

  • Po Nagar Cham Towers - heritage of the Champa kingdom, over 1,000 years old. The complex sits on a hill with a panoramic view over the Cai River and the city. Entry: 30,000 VND (~$1.20).
  • Long Son Pagoda - the main Buddhist temple of Khanh Hoa province. The White Buddha at the top is 193 steps up (152 to the Reclining Buddha halfway). The view from the top is worth every step. Free entry.
  • Hon Chong Promontory - a headland north of town with oddly stacked boulders and a sea view. A great spot for sunset photos.
  • Nha Trang Cathedral - the Christ the King cathedral, built in the 1930s in French Gothic style.

Da Lat day trip from Nha Trang

Green mountain valley with villages and mist in the Vietnamese highlands
Da Lat - a highland town with the air of a European hill station, three hours from Nha Trang

Da Lat sits at 1,500 m. It's 18-24 C year-round, with pine forests, lakes and an old European-resort feel. Distance from Nha Trang: 140 km, and the mountain switchbacks take about 3 hours.

This is the most popular tour out of Nha Trang, and deservedly so: highland Vietnam is so different from the coast it feels like another country. Want to base yourself up there instead? See our Da Lat guide.

Da Lat in 1 day

Hotel pickup around 07:00, back by 20:00-21:00. The standard route:

  • Crazy House - a hotel-museum of wild, Gaudi-esque architecture, designed by Dang Viet Nga, daughter of Vietnam's second president.
  • Clay Tunnel - a sculpture park of clay figures 3-7 m tall.
  • Datanla Falls - an alpine coaster carries you down the forested slope.
  • Linh Phuoc Pagoda - a temple entirely tiled in mosaic made from broken crockery.

Price: $40-55 (1,000,000-1,375,000 VND). Lunch is usually extra (150,000-250,000 VND, ~$6-10).

Da Lat in 2 days

The extended route adds to the one-day itinerary:

  • Glass Bridge - 325 m long, 90 m above the treetops.
  • Hobbit Village - an Instagram-bait spot of little houses in the hills.
  • Weasel-coffee farm - where they make Kopi Luwak. A cup is 50,000-100,000 VND (~$2-4).

Price: $95-135 (2,375,000-3,375,000 VND), including a night in a 3- or 4-star hotel.

⚠️
Da Lat in one day is brutal on the body. Of the 12-14-hour tour, 6 are spent on the road. If you can, take the two-day version.

Da Nang and Hoi An

The Golden Bridge held up by giant stone hands at Ba Na Hills, Da Nang
The Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills - worth the 530 km haul from Nha Trang for this shot

530 km from Nha Trang - and a completely different world. Central Vietnam, with its ancient towns, mountain resorts and the famous Golden Bridge, deserves a trip of its own. The overnight sleeper bus takes 9-10 hours. Flat berths, USB charging, blankets and air-con make the ride bearable.

Itinerary (2 days)

Day 1:

  • Arrive in Da Nang in the morning, breakfast.
  • Ba Na Hills - a mountain resort at 1,400 m. Cable car 5,800 m long.
  • Golden Bridge - a walkway cradled in giant stone hands, the "Hands of God."
  • Transfer to Hoi An (30 minutes).

Day 2:

  • Hoi An - an open-air museum town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the evening: hundreds of paper lanterns, a night market, boat rides on the Thu Bon River.
  • Dragon Bridge in Da Nang - 666 m, with a fire-and-water show on Friday and Saturday nights at 21:00.

Group: $195 (~4,875,000 VND) - coach, guide, hotel, Ba Na Hills tickets, breakfast.

🎯
Alternative: if the night bus doesn't appeal, fly to Da Nang in about an hour (VietJet, Bamboo Airways, from $30-50 one way) and book a tour on the spot. More on the city in our Da Nang guide.

Island hopping

Tropical island with turquoise water and a boat off a white-sand beach, aerial view
The islands of Nha Trang Bay - 19 of them, turquoise water and white-sand beaches

Nha Trang Bay holds 19 islands scattered across the turquoise water of the South China Sea. The tours take you to the best of them - with monkeys, coral reefs or white-sand beaches.

Northern Islands - Monkey Island and Orchid Island

The most family-friendly tour in Nha Trang. Monkey Island (Hon Lao) is home to around 1,500 macaques - fully tame, climbing onto shoulders and posing for photos. Just watch your things: the monkeys snatch sunglasses and phones.

Price: $36 (900,000 VND) adult / $28 (700,000 VND) child. Includes the boat, entry, the show and lunch. The boat ride is about 20 minutes.

Southern Islands and snorkelling

The boat runs to Hon Mun, Hon Mot and Hon Mieu - home to some of Vietnam's best coral reefs. The Hon Mun marine reserve is the only one in the whole country.

Price: $30-45 (750,000-1,125,000 VND). Best season: February-August, when underwater visibility reaches 10-15 m. Serious about the reef? See our Nha Trang diving guide.

Hon Tam Island

A resort island with white sand and a calm sea. Price: $45 (1,125,000 VND) adult / $35 (875,000 VND) child. Includes the boat, a sun lounger and lunch.

VinWonders theme park

Hon Tre island, reached by a 3,320 m cable car strung over the sea - getting into the park is a thrill in itself. Inside: a water park, rides, an aquarium tunnel, a dolphin show and a fountain show. Budget a full day for the whole loop.

Hack:get a 2-day ticket. In one you won't manage the water park, the rides, the aquarium and the evening show. For value-seekers: a 2-night stay at a Vinpearl hotel runs about $170 (~4,250,000 VND) with unlimited park access.

Yang Bay Eco Park and Ba Ho Waterfalls

Two of the best options for anyone who wants to break out of the beach and into raw nature.

Yang Bay Eco Park

An hour west of Nha Trang, up into the mountains. The park runs along a river: three waterfalls, open-air hot mineral springs, a mini zoo with crocodiles and a go-kart area.

Price: $50 (1,250,000 VND) adult / $40 (1,000,000 VND) child. Includes transfer, entry and the springs. Suits all ages - almost no physical effort.

Ba Ho Waterfalls

25 km north of Nha Trang. Ba Homeans "three lakes" in Vietnamese: the waterfall drops down the mountain and forms three natural pools at different levels. The first is an easy 15-minute walk. The second is a scramble over boulders (another 20 minutes). The third is a rock trek, in places with ropes. Wear trainers, nothing else.

The tour is often combined with a stop at Doc Let beach - one of the prettiest in Khanh Hoa province. Price: $29-45 (725,000-1,125,000 VND).

Mud baths and hot springs

Open-air mud bath on a wooden deck overlooking tropical fields and palms
Nha Trang's mud baths - from ~$5 for mineral volcanic mud

Nha Trang's three main mud-bath centres cover every budget and taste. All sit in the north of the city, 15-20 minutes by taxi. The mud is mineral and volcanic in origin, good for skin and joints.

100 Eggs200,000 VND (~$8)250,000 VND (~$10)from 400,000 VND (~$16)

Thap Ba is Nha Trang's first mud spa and the best-known. In the budget option you share a tub with 10-15 people. I-Resort is more modern, with a Finnish sauna and hammam. 100 Eggs is the most Instagrammable: tubs shaped like giant eggs, a tropical garden with waterfalls.

All three run 08:00-17:30. Go at opening time - fewer people, cleaner mud.

Active tours - diving, ATVs, fishing

Where and how to book tours in Nha Trang

Online platforms (English, card payment)

Online platforms for booking Nha Trang tours
PlatformPrices fromGood for
Klook$25Islands, VinWonders tickets, e-vouchers
GetYourGuide$30English guides, free cancellation
Viator$35Private and small-group day trips
Local operators$25Cheapest, WhatsApp, cash on the day

Platform prices run 15-25% higher than booking a local operator directly. In return you get verified reviews, free cancellation, card payment and - filter for it - a guaranteed English-speaking guide. Reddit's r/VietnamTravel is a good place to read recent, honest tour reports.

Booking on the ground

Local tour desks around town and small operators sell the same trips cheaper, usually cash-only, often with a WhatsApp contact. Just confirm the guide's English before you commit - big-group Vietnamese tours can be light on English commentary.

Four booking tips

  1. Book 1-2 weeks ahead - especially multi-day tours, the 2-day Da Lat and yacht trips.
  2. Carry cash - USD or VND for on-the-ground operators; use a card platform if you want a refundable slot.
  3. Check what's included - lunch, entry tickets, pickup from your specific hotel, and the guide's language.
  4. Get a WhatsApp contact - questions on the day get sorted faster.

Active travellers (20-35)

  • Ba Ho Waterfalls - trekking and swimming in natural pools.

On a budget (under ~$12)

  • Thap Ba mud baths (budget) - from ~$5.
  • Ba Ho Waterfalls - from ~$10.
  • City sightseeing tour - from ~$11.
  • Southern-islands snorkelling - from ~$12.

Common mistakes when choosing tours

Booking through the hotel front desk. A 30-50% markup for the same trip. Book directly with an operator or on a platform - the price difference is real.

Ignoring the season. Sea tours live and die by the weather. October-December brings waves, murky water and choppy crossings. Best time for the sea: February-August.

Not carrying cash. Most local operators take cash only. ATMs exist, but charge a 50,000-60,000 VND withdrawal fee, and many cap you at low limits.

Not checking what's included.A "Da Lat tour for $35" may not cover entry ($10-15), lunch (100,000-200,000 VND) or the alpine coaster ($5). Suddenly it's $55, not $35.

⚠️
Skipping sunscreen. On sea tours you're in open sun for 5-7 hours. SPF 50+ is a must, reapplied every 2 hours. The sea breeze feels cool while your skin quietly burns.

Buying the cheapest tour going. A $25 tour when everyone else charges $40 should give you pause. The saving usually means a group of 25-30 instead of 10-15, a cheap lunch and an old bus.

FAQ

How much should I budget for tours in Nha Trang?

Over 10 days the average traveller spends $150-300 on tours. A 2-day Da Lat trip plus islands plus VinWonders runs $200-250. A budget mix (city tour + mud baths + Ba Ho) is $100-120.

Which tours are the most popular?

The top three: Da Lat (1-2 days), the Northern Islands and VinWonders. For something different - scuba diving at Hon Mun and the Da Nang trip with the Golden Bridge.

Can I see everything on my own?

City sights - easy by Grab for a couple of dollars each way. Mud baths - no problem either. But Da Lat, the islands and Da Nang work out pricier and more of a logistical hassle done solo.

Are the guides English-speaking?

On Klook and GetYourGuide you can filter for English-speaking guides or self-guided tickets. Big-group Vietnamese tours often default to Vietnamese with limited English, so check the language before booking, or pick a private tour.

What time of year is best?

Dry season (February-August) for sea tours. September-October for Da Lat, city tours and mud baths. Rainy season (November-January) makes the sea risky, though Da Lat and Da Nang still work.

Is booking online or on the ground cheaper?

Local operators booked directly are usually cheapest. Platforms add a 15-25% margin - worth it if you want free cancellation, card payment or a guaranteed English guide.

Do I need my passport for tours?

Not for standard day tours, but carry a copy. Multi-day trips into Cambodia need your passport and the right visa for your nationality - check your entry rules first.

Prices current as of July 2026. Prices and terms can change - confirm with the operator or on official sources before you go.
