Phu Quoc attractions: top things to do in 2026
Phú Quốc is a 574 km² island where a UNESCO national park covers most of the interior, and the rest packs in a Guinness-record cable car, Vietnam's largest safari park and a Venetian-canal entertainment city. Half the sights are free — and most nationalities can visit visa-free.

Prices current as of March 2026. Conversion at ~25,000 VND = $1.

The main paid highlights are the cable car, VinWonders and Vinpearl Safari. Almost everything else is free or costs next to nothing. Bring cash: most temples, markets and farms don't take cards, and even at the big parks card readers can be down. ATMs cluster in Dương Đông and at the airport.

Hon Thom cable car — the longest over-sea ropeway in the world

Seven point nine kilometres over open water — a Guinness world record. The cabin carries you from the An Thới station in the south of Phu Quoc to Hòn Thơm island in about 15 minutes. Below you: turquoise bays, fishing boats and the tiny islands of the An Thoi archipelago.
On Hon Thom itself there is the Aquatopia water park (21 rides, included in the cable-car ticket) and a white-sand beach.
💬 "Fifteen minutes over the sea in a glass cabin is unforgettable — turquoise bays, fishing boats and tiny islands below. Our 5-year-old squealed the whole way. Hon Thom has a clean beach and a water park where we spent another four hours. One of the best things we did on the island." — traveller reviews, Tripadvisor, 2025
Prices:
- Adult: 690,000–750,000 VND (~$28–30)
- Child (100–140 cm): 560,000–600,000 VND (~$22–24)
- Under 100 cm: free
Hours: 09:00–17:00 daily.
Getting there: the An Thoi station is at the south tip of the island. A taxi from Dương Đông is about 200,000 VND (~$8). Grab works on the island, but not every driver accepts app rides for the airport run, so keep some cash.
VinWonders and Vinpearl Safari

The two main paid parks sit in the north of the island, in the Gành Dầu area. VinWonders is Vietnam's largest theme park (50 ha, 6 zones, 100+ rides). Vinpearl Safari is the country's biggest safari park (380 ha, 3,000+ animals across 150 species). The VinWonders + Safari combo is 1,350,000 VND (~$54), saving about 180,000 VND (~$7).
💬 "Safari was the highlight for our kids — giraffes walk right up to the bus and zebras stroll across the road. In the open zoo we fed an elephant by hand. Get the combo with VinWonders; the saving is real and the two parks fill a whole day." — traveller reviews, Tripadvisor, 2025
Skip the airport queue in 5–10 min
In winter, immigration lines run 60–90 min. With Fast Track you’re met at the aircraft and taken through the priority lane. Arrange it before you fly.
Telegram managerGrand World and Sunset Town

Two free zones that are worth an evening visit.
Grand World Phu Quoc
A 24/7 entertainment city in the north. Venetian canals with gondolas, art installations, European-style architecture. Free to enter, and the perfect place to watch the free shows without spending a dong.
Sunset Town
A Mediterranean-style tourist district in the south, right next to the cable-car station. Bright facades, narrow lanes, a food street and the nightly Kiss of the Sea show over the water. Free to enter.
Kiss Bridge
A pedestrian bridge inspired by Michelangelo: two walkways stopping 30 cm apart. The architect is Marco Casamonti (Italy). Free entry, open 07:00–23:00.
Temples and pagodas of Phu Quoc

Three main temples — all free. Dress modestly (shoulders and knees covered) and take your shoes off where signs ask.
Ho Quoc Pagoda
The island's largest Buddhist temple, spread over 110 ha. Built in 2012 in the southeast, 10 km from the airport. Big statues, carved reliefs and a panoramic sea view from the hillside. Worth the trip for the views alone.
Dinh Cau Temple (Dinh Cậu)
A cliffside shrine-lighthouse by the Dương Đông port, dedicated to the sea goddess Thiên Hậu. An iconic sunset photo spot. Free, open around the clock.
Cao Dai Temple
A temple of Caodaism, a home-grown Vietnamese religion blending Buddhism, Christianity and Islam. Bright, unusual and fascinating if you have never seen one. Free.
Getting set up in Vietnam?
SIM, visas, transfers, tours — our manager sorts it out for you, in English.
Message the managerPhu Quoc National Park

31,400 hectares of tropical jungle — most of the island's interior. A UNESCO biosphere reserve since 2006. Free to enter.
What to do:
- Trek to the Suối Tranh waterfall — easy, 1–2 hours
- The Bat Cave — for the more adventurous
- Climb Thiên Sơn Đỉnh — 603 m, the island's highest point
Getting there: 20–30 km from Duong Dong by scooter or taxi. Go in the dry season (November–April), when the tracks are passable.
Coconut Prison
A war-era memorial museum. Wax figures, the notorious "tiger cages" and an exhibition on torture — heavy going, but powerful. Free entry.
Hours: Tue–Sun 07:30–11:00 and 13:30–17:00 (closed Monday).
Location: the south of the island, near the turn-off to Bai Sao beach.
Pearl farms, pepper farms and a fish-sauce factory

Three kinds of "production" visit — all free.
Pearl farms — Ngoc Hien and Phu Quoc Pearl on the west coast, 5–7 km south of Duong Dong. The tour is free and walks you through the whole pearl-growing process. You can buy jewellery: strands run 850,000–2,200,000 VND (~$34–88), rings from 70,000 VND (~$3). Beware of fakes — buy only at the farms.
Pepper farms — Phu Quoc is famous for Vietnam's best black pepper. The plantations are free to visit and you can buy pepper straight from source, cheaper than at the market.
Fish-sauce factory — Phu Quoc is the home of Vietnam's finest nước mắm. The tour is free; the smell is intense, but it is genuinely interesting.
More on Vietnamese food is in our guide to eating on Phu Quoc.
Night market and fishing village

Duong Dong Night Market
The island's main evening draw, on Võ Thị Sáu street, open 18:00–23:30. Grilled seafood, souvenirs, pearls and coconut ice cream. Bring cash and small notes — vendors rarely take cards, and pointing at the price on a calculator is the local way to haggle.
Ham Ninh fishing village (Hàm Ninh)
On the east coast, 20 minutes from the airport. A wooden pier, fishing boats and the freshest seafood. The signature dish is Ham Ninh crab. A seafood portion runs 100,000–300,000 VND (~$4–12). Free to enter.
💬 "Ham Ninh village is the real Phu Quoc without the tourist gloss. We sat on the wooden pier, ordered a kilo of crab for 250,000 dong — straight out of the sea. The view of the fishing boats and the sunset is free. Come by 16:00 to catch both lunch and the golden hour." — traveller reviews, Tripadvisor, 2025

Frequently asked questions about Phu Quoc attractions
What to do in Phu Quoc in one day?
Book a Grab taxi early (from 150,000 VND / ~$6) and loop the south of the island clockwise: the Hon Thom cable car at 09:00 (shortest queue), lunch in Sunset Town, Aquatopia water park after 14:00 (thinner crowds), and the Kiss of the Sea show at 19:30. Buy cable-car tickets online at vinwonders.com — it is often 10% cheaper and skips the ticket line.
Which attractions in Phu Quoc are free?
A good free one-day route: Ho Quoc Pagoda in the morning (quiet before 10:00), then a pepper farm with a tasting (ask them to show the difference between red and black pepper), and Grand World after lunch (free shows every hour). In the evening, the Dinh Cau night market, where seafood runs about 30% cheaper than the restaurants on Long Beach.
Do I need a visa for Phu Quoc?
Phu Quoc has a special visa exemption: most nationalities can stay up to 30 days if they fly straight to the island and stay only there. For the rest of Vietnam you generally need an e-visa (evisa.gov.vn, 90 days, single or multiple entry). Rules depend on your passport, so check the official site before you fly.
Is Phu Quoc worth it for the sights?
If you have seen Bali or Phuket and expect big temple complexes, Phu Quoc is simpler. But compared with the Maldives it packs in far more to do. A working split: 3 days beach + 2 days sights + 1 day snorkelling on the southern islands. That is when the island opens up. For honest pros and cons, browse our Phu Quoc guide.
Where are the best sunsets in Phu Quoc?
Shoot 30–40 minutes before sundown, when the sky lights up but there is still light. Three options: budget — Ong Lang beach (few people, free, best angles from a scooter); romantic — On The Rocks restaurant on Long Beach (book a waterfront table a day ahead, cocktails from 120,000 VND / ~$5); family — Sunset Town with live music and a food street. Sunset is around 17:30–18:00; check the exact time in the Sun Surveyor app. For the best beaches, see our Phu Quoc beaches guide.
