Things to do on Phu Quoc in 2026: VinWonders, safari, cable car and prices
Phu Quoc long ago outgrew the label of "just a beach island." World-class theme parks, multimedia shows, a Venetian quarter and the longest sea-crossing cable car on the planet are all here. This guide covers every attraction with 2026 prices in VND (and ~USD): from VinWonders and the safari to the free sights, with online booking and family tips.

Phu Quoc works for almost any kind of trip. Families spend a whole day at VinWonders and the safari. Couples find the romance in Sunset Town at sunset. Active travellers head out snorkelling to the southern islands or trekking through the jungle. And budget travellers can cover half the island for free — from the Coconut Prison to the pearl farms.

VinWonders — Vietnam's biggest theme park

The six themed zones of VinWonders

Where to buy cheaper: vinpearl.com (up to 20% off plus skip-the-line), Klook, Traveloka and KKday — all take foreign cards.
💬 "We did VinWonders with two kids (5 and 9). The little one wouldn't leave the Typhoon World water park — the toddler slides are safe and lifeguards are everywhere. The older one got stuck in Viking Village. We paid 1,350,000 VND for the Safari combo and covered everything over two days with no rush. Tip: bring your own food, the food court inside is pricey." — Tripadvisor review, 2025
Vinpearl Safari — an open-air zoo
Vinpearl Safari is the largest safari park in Vietnam, accredited by the South East Asian Zoos Association (SEAZA). It spans 380 hectares with more than 3,000 animals of 150 species. This is not a caged zoo but an open landscape where the animals live in near-natural conditions. Vinpearl Safari opened Vietnam's first semi-wild safari model on the island.

Safari Park — the bus tour
A 30-minute ride on an electric bus through grounds where the animals roam freely. Lions, Bengal tigers and bears stay behind barriers but at arm's length; giraffes come up to the windows, and zebras and deer graze right by the road. Buses run from 09:30 to 15:20, with minimal queues in the mornings.
Open Zoo — the walking area
- Giraffe Cafe — a basket of bananas and carrots to hand-feed giraffes and elephants
- A lemur petting area
- Bird show — parrots, peacocks and birds of prey, twice a day
- Kids Zoo and Kids Farm — a petting zoo with farm animals (10:30–12:00, 14:30–16:00)
Night safari
The night tour on a lit electric tram is a separate adventure. After dark the nocturnal animals come out of hiding. It is included in the 2-day VinWonders + Safari combo — 1,450,000 VND (~$58).

Telegram managerThe Hon Thom cable car and Aquatopia water park

The Sun World Hon Thom cable car is a Guinness World Record holder. At 7,899.9 metres it is the longest non-stop sea-crossing cable car in the world. The cabins rise to 164 metres and carry you from the south of Phu Quoc to Hòn Thơm island in 15 minutes.
The views are an attraction in their own right: turquoise sea, coral reefs and a scatter of islands below. The newer cabins have panoramic glass floors for anyone who isn't afraid of heights. The departure station is in An Thới (the south of the island), about 30 minutes by taxi from Duong Dong.
What awaits on Hon Thom island
The cable-car ticket includes entry to the Aquatopia water park — 21 rides:
- Water slides for adults and children
- The wooden roller coaster Mộc Sa Thịnh Nộ — the first and only one in Vietnam
- Pools and lazy rivers
- A kids' area with shallow pools
- Exotica Village — a village with rides and a food court

Sunset Town and Grand World — Phu Quoc after dark
When the sun starts to drop, Phu Quoc changes character. The two main evening destinations are Sunset Town and Grand World.

Sunset Town
A Mediterranean-style district: pastel houses, terracotta roofs and a seafront promenade. Entry is free. The centrepiece is the Kiss Bridge: an 800-metre structure whose design nods to Michelangelo's "Creation of Adam." The best time to visit is 16:30–18:30, when the sunset colours the sky.
Evening shows
| Show | What you'll see | When |
|---|---|---|
| Kiss of the Sea | Water fountains, 3D projections, fireworks, 60+ performers | 21:00 (except Tue) |
| Kiss The Stars | Vortex tech: fire, water, lasers | Nightly |
| Love Hurricane | Jet skis and flyboards set to music | 18:00 daily |
A Kiss of the Sea ticket is 1,000,000 VND (~$40); a combo of two tickets is 1,300,000 VND (~$52). Under 1.0 m is free.
Grand World — "the city that never sleeps"
- VUI-Fest Night Bazaar — a new-format night market with food courts and shows
- Teddy Bear Museum — 2,162 m², included in the VinWonders + Safari combo
- Gondola rides on the "Venice" canal — ~200,000–300,000 VND (~$8–12)
- Fountain show — free every evening
- Bars, restaurants and shops open late
Grand World is open 24/7, 365 days a year, and entry is free. Come around 20:30 to grab a good spot by the fountains.
💬 "Sunset Town was the highlight of our trip. We arrived at 17:00 and watched the sunset from Kiss Bridge — unreal views. Then we walked through Grand World, took a gondola for 250,000 VND and caught the free fountain show at 20:30. And Kiss of the Sea is from another dimension: fireworks, water screens, acrobats. The ticket is 1,000,000 VND, but it's worth it." — Tripadvisor review, 2025

Getting set up in Vietnam?
SIM, visas, transfers, tours — our manager sorts it out for you, in English.
Message the managerFree attractions and sights
Not everything on Phu Quoc costs money. Here is what you can visit for free:
- Coconut Prison — a Vietnam War-era prison museum. "Tiger" cages, wax figures and a kilometre-long tunnel
- Ho Quoc Pagoda — the island's largest Buddhist temple, 110 hectares, with panoramic coastal views
- Dinh Cau Temple — the symbol of Dương Đông, a small shrine on a seaside rock with sunset views
- Pearl farms — the tour is free; strings of pearls in the shop start at 850,000 VND (~$34)
- Fish sauce factory — the tour is free, the smell is distinctive
- National park — 31,000 hectares of jungle (70% of the island), a UNESCO biosphere reserve. Trek to the Suối Tranh waterfall or climb Thiên Sơn Đỉnh (603 m)
Night market and food

The night market on Võ Thị Sáustreet is the island's main food destination: 1.2 kilometres, more than 100 stalls of food, souvenirs and pearls. Open 18:00–23:30 daily.
| Item | Price (VND) | Price (~USD) |
|---|---|---|
| Fish (per kg) | from 35,000 | from ~$1.40 |
| Squid (per kg) | 120,000 | ~$5 |
| King prawns (per kg) | from 350,000 | from ~$14 |
| Lobster (per kg) | from 750,000 | from ~$30 |
| Pepper crab (per kg) | 450,000 | ~$18 |
| Sea urchin (grilled) | 80,000 | ~$3 |
Dinner for two with seafood runs about 300,000–400,000 VND (~$12–16). Tip: haggle — the first price for tourists is usually inflated 30–50%. Try the local mulberry wine, Rượu Sim, made from the sim berries that grow only on Phu Quoc.
💬 "At the Duong Dong night market we picked up a kilo of king prawns for 350,000 VND — grilled on the spot with garlic and lime. Plus two lobsters at 400,000 VND each. Dinner for two with beer came to about 1,200,000 VND (~$48) — half the price you'd pay back home for seafood like this. The trick is choosing stalls in the middle of the market, not by the entrance, where it's cheaper." — Tripadvisor review, 2025
Phu Quoc with kids — the best things to do
Phu Quoc is a strong pick for a family trip:
- VinWonders — the Typhoon World water park with a kids' zone, the aquarium with a mermaid show, the Fantasy World carousels, an ice rink and arcade games. Under 1.0 m is free
- Vinpearl Safari — a petting zoo, feeding giraffes and elephants, Kids Zoo and Kids Farm
- Cable car + Aquatopia — 15 minutes flying over the sea plus a water park with toddler slides
- Grand World — the Teddy Bear Museum, evening parades and street performances
Beaches for kids: Bai Sao (gentle entry, fine white sand) and Ong Lang (minimal waves, quiet). More on all of them in the Phu Quoc beaches guide.
Nightlife
Phu Quoc is not Pattaya or Bali, but there is an evening scene.
Rosso Sky Bar & Lounge — a rooftop bar with panoramic sunsets, signature cocktails and evening DJ sets. One of the best spots for a night out on the island.
Long Beach bars — along Trần Hưng Đạo street you'll find bars and clubs with live music and beach parties. The vibe is relaxed, but don't plan on staying up till dawn — most close around midnight. For the local draft, order a bia hoi.
EPIZODE Festival — the largest electronic music festival in Southeast Asia, held on Phu Quoc from late December into early January. A multi-day open-air on the beach with international DJs. The line-up usually drops in September–October.
When to go to Phu Quoc
| Period | Weather | Best activities |
|---|---|---|
| November–April | Dry season, sunny | Beaches, snorkelling, diving, island tours |
| May–October | Rainy season (short showers) | VinWonders, Safari, trekking, spa |
| December–January | Peak season | EPIZODE Festival, everything open, higher prices |
Even in the rainy season Phu Quoc is a fine trip. Rain usually comes for 1–2 hours after lunch, then the sun is back out.

Good to know
Getting around. The handiest option is renting a scooter (150,000–200,000 VND a day, ~$6–8) — you can circle the whole island on one. Grab works too, but not everywhere.
Currency. Everything is priced in dong (VND). Rough conversion: ~25,000 VND to the US dollar. Dollars are accepted on some tours and at a few hotels, but change is given in dong, so carry cash in VND.
Sun protection. SPF 50+, a hat and sunglasses are essential, especially in the parks.
Haggling. At the night market and in souvenir shops the first price is not final. Bargain calmly and with a smile — you can knock off 20–30%.
Food in the parks. You can't bring outside food into VinWonders. The food court in European Street is pricier than town. Eat a big breakfast at your hotel.
Tickets online. Book via vinpearl.com (up to 20% off plus skip-the-line) or Klook/Traveloka — all take foreign cards, so you skip the ticket window.

VinWonders Phu Quoc or Nha Trang — which is better?
Both parks belong to the Vinpearl group, but they differ in scale and the mix of attractions.
| Feature | Phu Quoc | Nha Trang |
|---|---|---|
| Area | 50 ha | 20 ha |
| Safari | Yes (380 ha) | No |
| Grand World | Yes (free entry) | No |
| Getting there | Bus / taxi ~20 min | Cable car across the bay |
| Water park | 27 rides | Yes, but smaller |
| Night shows | Kiss of the Sea, fountains | No |
Verdict:Phu Quoc is the bigger experience — the Safari, Grand World and night shows are things Nha Trang doesn't have. That said, Nha Trang's cable car across the bay is an attraction in itself. If you have to choose, Phu Quoc gives you the fuller day.
FAQ
How do you do VinWonders without the queues?
Arrive at the 09:00 opening and start with the far zones (Adventure World, roller coasters) — those lines build by lunchtime. Save the aquarium and ice rink for 12:00–14:00, when it is hottest outside. Hit the water park after 15:00, once tour groups leave. Book online at vinpearl.com for fast-track entry and up to 20% off.
Should I buy the combo VinWonders + Safari ticket or visit separately?
The 2-day combo (1,450,000 VND, ~$58) is the best value: you save 80,000 VND and never have to rush. Doing both parks in one day is possible but tiring (Safari 09:00–13:00, VinWonders 14:00–21:00). With kids under 7, take the two-day combo without hesitation.
What is there to do in the rainy season?
VinWonders runs in any weather — the aquarium, 5D cinema and ice rink are fully covered. Grand World and Sunset Town are partly sheltered. The Hòn Thơm cable car closes in strong wind (5–10 days a season). Safari stays open in the rain, though the animals are less active.
Is snorkelling and diving safe for beginners?
Snorkelling off the southern islands is safe for beginners — currents are weak, depth is 2–5 m, and a guide is on board. A discovery dive (from ~$50) goes to about 8 m with a personal instructor. Pick a PADI- or SSI-certified centre, check the gear, and never dive with a cold. More in the Phu Quoc diving guide.
How do I reach the attractions without a scooter or Grab?
The free VinBus links the airport, Dương Đông and Grand World every 15–20 minutes. From Grand World, an internal Vinpearl shuttle runs to VinWonders and Safari. A free SunWorld bus goes to the cable car from Long Beach Mart. For far-flung spots (Coconut Prison, the pagoda), hire a taxi for half a day (500,000–700,000 VND, ~$20–28).
What is a 3-day entertainment itinerary?
Day 1 — VinWonders all day (water park + rides + aquarium). Day 2 — Safari at opening (09:00), then Grand World and the Kiss of the Sea show in the evening. Day 3 — Hòn Thơm cable car + Aquatopia in the morning, night market at night. Budget for three: roughly $150–190 excluding food.
Is there anything for teenagers aged 12–16?
VinWonders has roller coasters, VR rides and an ice rink. Aquatopia on Hòn Thơm has extreme water slides. Night squid fishing is a hit (they catch their own). Snorkelling off the islands is open from age 10. Water sports on Long Beach — wakeboarding, kayaking from 300,000 VND (~$12). For nature lovers, trek to the Suoi Tranh waterfall (3–4 hours, moderate).
Which shows are worth seeing, and do I need to book?
Kiss of the Sea in Sunset Town is the headline — water, fire and 60+ performers (from 700,000 VND, ~$28). Book 2–3 days ahead in high season, as grandstand seats sell out. The Grand World parades (free, daily at 19:30 and 21:00) need no booking — just arrive 15 minutes early.
Prices current as of July 2026. Prices can change — check the official VinWonders site and vinpearl.com before you go.
