The Golden Bridge — the face of Ba Na Hills and the most photographed spot in Vietnam

The summit is cold by Vietnamese standards: 18–22°C while it's 32 down in the city. Bring a jacket even if it feels pointless. It won't be.

Planning a Da Nang trip? Start with our Da Nang guide for the big picture — districts, transport, orientation. Our Da Nang attractions guide covers all 15 top sights, Ba Na Hills included.

The cable car — 20 minutes over the jungle

The Bà Nà Hills cable car runs 5.8 km, one of the longest in the world. The ride from the base station to the summit takes about 20 minutes. Below you: slopes buried in tropical forest, waterfalls, and clouds at eye level. The cabins are enclosed and air-conditioned, seating eight.

Several lines run across the park: the main one (base to summit) plus links between zones. Transfers are free — it all comes with the ticket.

⚠️
Queues. In peak season (December–February) and on weekends the wait at the base station hits 30–40 minutes. The fix is simple: arrive by 7:00. By 10:00 the car park is full of tour buses.

The stats are impressive: the base-to-summit climb is over 1,300 m. When it opened in 2009 it was the longest single-track cable car in the world. The cabins are built by Doppelmayr — the same Austrian firm behind the Alpine lifts.

🤓
Did you know? On rainy days the cable car is sometimes stopped because of wind — 2–3 times a month in the wet season (October–November). If it happens, you wait at the base or ask for a refund.

The Golden Bridge and the Hands of God

A 150-metre walkway at 1,414 m — the "hands of god" hold up the Golden Bridge

A 150-metre pedestrian span at 1,414 m, "held" by two giant stone hands. Cầu Vàng — the Golden Bridge — is arguably the most photographed sight in Vietnam. It's 12.8 m wide, built from fibreglass and wire mesh shaped to look like moss-covered stone hands.

The bridge was designed by the Vietnamese studio TA Landscape Architecture. Since it opened in 2018 it has landed on dozens of "world's most unusual bridges" lists, from National Geographic to TIME.

🎯
Best time to shoot: 7:00–8:30 am. Few people, soft light, morning mist drifting under the bridge. By 10:00 there are hundreds of visitors and a crowd-free photo is nearly impossible.

The Silver Bridge

In 2025 the Silver Bridge opened next door — glass floor, viewing deck. A walkway connects the two, and together they give a full circle of views over the mountains and valley. At night the bridges are lit up — a show no worse than by day, and noticeably less crowded.

💬 "The Golden Bridge is stunning, but by 10 am it's unbearable — crowds, heat, no room to move. Come at opening." — traveller reviews, Tripadvisor, 2025

What else to see up top

There's a good 4–6 hours of sightseeing up here if you don't rush

Ba Na Hills is not just the bridge. There's a good 4–6 hours of sightseeing across the park.

The French Village

A quarter built to mimic medieval European architecture: cobbled lanes, fountain squares, stone facades. The cafés and restaurants cost more than in town — phở or rice runs 100,000–150,000 VND (~$4–6), coffee 50,000–80,000 VND (~$2–3.20). For comparison, the same thing in central Da Nang is 2–3 times cheaper.

💰
Want to save? Bring your own water and a snack. Everything inside the park carries a markup.

Le Jardin D'Amour flower gardens

Nine themed gardens with mountain views. Peak bloom is March–May, but even in winter the gardens stay tidy and bright — and far quieter than the bridge.

Linh Ứng Pagoda

A Buddhist temple at the summit of Bà Nà, one of the oldest in the region — founded in the early 19th century. A quiet spot to pause between the rides.

Fantasy Park

A covered amusement park with six zones inspired by Jules Verne. Roller coasters, simulators, arcade games, a 3D cinema. Included in the ticket. Good for families with kids and as shelter from the rain.

The Alpine Coaster

A mountain toboggan — a rail-track descent down the slope. You control the speed yourself. Included in the main ticket. Queues run 15–30 minutes at peak.

The pros and cons — is it worth it?

The Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills in morning mist — atmospheric view with the giant hands
In fog the bridge seems to float in the clouds — like a set from a fantasy film

Pros

  • The Golden Bridge — a one-of-a-kind structure with 360° views
  • The cable car — an attraction in its own right
  • Cool air: 18–22°C while Da Nang bakes at 32
  • One ticket, three days — you can come back
  • Plenty for kids (Fantasy Park, Alpine Coaster)

Cons

  • Price. 750,000 VND per person is expensive by Vietnamese standards. A family trip easily tops $100
  • Crowds. By 10:00 the Golden Bridge holds hundreds of people. A crowd-free photo means going at dawn
  • Commercial feel. The place can read like a shopping mall in the mountains
  • Weather. Fog and rain can wipe out every view. In the wet season (October–November) you risk losing the day

Who it's for

Ba Na Hills is ideal for families with kids, anyone who loves photogenic spots, and first-time visitors to Vietnam. If you've already seen Da Nang and want the "real" Vietnam, the Marble Mountains or the Hai Van Pass will impress you more for a fraction of the cost.

Alternatives

  • The Marble Mountains — entry 40,000 VND, caves and panoramas. Twenty times cheaper (see our Da Nang attractions guide)
  • The Son Tra Peninsula — free. The Lady Buddha statue, wild beaches, langurs
  • The Hai Van Pass — free. One of the most beautiful roads in the world

Practical tips

The ideal day plan

  1. 06:30 — leave Da Nang by Grab
  2. 07:00 — entry, cable car (no queue)
  3. 07:30 — Golden Bridge (empty, misty, perfect photos)
  4. 08:30 — Silver Bridge, flower gardens
  5. 10:00 — French Village, lunch
  6. 11:30 — Fantasy Park, Alpine Coaster
  7. 13:00–14:00 — descend and head back to the city

What to bring

  • A jacket or hoodie — it's 18–22°C up top
  • Comfortable shoes — there's a lot of walking
  • An umbrella or rain poncho — rain at the summit is a regular visitor
  • Water and a snack — park prices carry a markup
  • A charged phone — you'll take a lot of photos

When to go

February–May — dry, clear, the best views from the bridge. June–August — hot below, comfortable up top, but more rain. October–November — wet season, high fog risk. December–January — cool and misty but atmospheric; the main downside is holiday crowds. See our Da Nang weather guide for the full picture.
