Vinpearl Empire Nha Trang (ex-Melia Vinpearl): a city hotel review

It is still widely listed as Melia Vinpearl Nha Trang Empire (that is even the URL of melia.com's own page), and Kayak's listing URL still says Vinpearl Condotel Empire. It is one building. It is also not on the island, not in Cam Ranh and not on the beachfront, which matters more than the name.

The hotel at a glance

Vinpearl Empire Nha Trang is a five-star condotel: apartment-style units run as a hotel, with a front desk, housekeeping and breakfast. It opened on 26 March 2018 on top of the Vincom Plaza Lê Thánh Tôn shopping mall.

You will see two versions of the address on Vinpearl's own pages: the old "Loc Tho Ward" and the new "Nha Trang Ward". Same place. Vietnam abolished its district tier on 1 July 2025 and merged wards, and Loc Tho became part of the new Nha Trang Ward. For a taxi or Grab, "Vincom Lê Thánh Tôn" is enough.

Three names, one building

Melia Vinpearl Nha Trang Empire, Vinpearl Condotel Empire and Vinpearl Empire Nha Trang, Affiliated by Meliá are the same hotel on Lê Thánh Tôn. The name changed twice, and online travel agencies update their listings slowly, so all three still show up in search.

1. March 2018. Vinpearl opens a 1,221-room condotel in Nha Trang. Kayak's listing URL still carries the name Vinpearl Condotel Empire Nha Trang.
2. 2022. Vinpearl hands 12 of its hotels to Spain's Meliá Hotels International to manage. The hotel becomes Meliá Vinpearl Nha Trang Empire, and its spa moves to Meliá's YHI Spa concept.
3. Now. Both vinpearl.com and melia.com list it as Vinpearl Empire Nha Trang, Affiliated by Meliá. We could not find the date of this last change in any official source.

So if your booking says "Melia Vinpearl Empire" and the hotel's confirmation says "Vinpearl Empire … Affiliated by Meliá", nothing is wrong.

Location and the real distance to the beach

The sea is about 400 metres from Vinpearl Empire in a straight line. That is our own measurement from the hotel's pin on melia.com to the nearest waterline in OpenStreetMap, just north of Tram Huong Tower. Vinpearl puts the walk across Trần Phú at around 10 minutes.

• Vinpearl Empire and Vincom Plaza (Vincom Plaza Lê Thánh Tôn): 44–46 Le Thanh Ton — 40 floors, 1,221 rooms — Mall at the base
• Tram Huong Tower and the beach (Tháp Trầm Hương): Landmark on Tran Phu — ~430 m in a straight line, ~400 m to the water
• Nha Trang Cathedral (Nhà thờ Chính tòa Nha Trang): Cathedral — ~750 m in a straight line, Meliá says ~1 km
• Dam Market (Chợ Đầm): City market — ~1.4 km in a straight line, Vinpearl says ~1.8 km
• Cam Ranh Airport (Sân bay quốc tế Cam Ranh): ~35 km to the hotel per Vinpearl — Usually 45–60 minutes by car

The official sources disagree, by a factor of five:

Reality is somewhere in between. This is not beachfront: there are several blocks of buildings and the busy Tran Phu boulevard between you and the sand. It is not far from the sea either, despite the one-kilometre figure.

Per Vinpearl, Vincom Plaza is about 100 m away (in practice, underneath you), Tram Huong Tower about 500 m, the night market about 550 m and Dam Market about 1.8 km. Meliá adds the cathedral at 1 km and VinWonders at 6 km. The park is on the island: you go to the cable car station and cross from there.

Rooms: which type to book

There are four room types, from 32 to 74 m² as Vinpearl describes them. All have floor-to-ceiling windows, a balcony, wooden floors and a city or sea view.

Meliá's site gives bigger suite sizes: 463 sq ft (≈ 43 m²) for the One Bedroom Suite and 883 sq ft (≈ 82 m²) for the Two Bedroom Suite. If floor space matters, confirm it in writing when you book.

Vinpearl lists the in-room basics as Wi-Fi, air conditioning, fridge, kettle, tea and coffee, bottled water, safe, hairdryer, bathrobe, toiletries and a flat-screen TV.

No kitchen is mentioned in any room description, even though the building is a condotel. If you plan to cook on a long stay, email the hotel about the specific room type first.

• Two people, 3–5 nights: a 32 m² Deluxe is enough. You will spend the days on the beach and in town anyway.
• Family with two kids: the 74 m² Two Bedroom Suite gives you two bedrooms and a shared living room on one booking. Compare its price with two Deluxe rooms for your dates; the gap depends on the rate.
• Sea view: ask when you book. The tower stands a few blocks back from the seafront and sea-view rooms are not a separate category, so the view depends on the floor and which side your windows face.

Pool, spa and restaurants

Vinpearl Empire has one outdoor pool, on the sixth floor, with a separate children's pool and a pool bar next to it. Both Meliá and Vinpearl describe it as an infinity pool with city views.

The official site also lists:

• YHI Spa, Meliá's spa concept, with sauna, steam room, hot tub, massages and treatments.
• A gym and a Kids Club with supervised activities.
• Meeting rooms with AV equipment.
• Direct access to Vincom Plaza, so the mall's shops and cafés are an indoor walk away.

Pool hours are not published on the official pages. A guest on Trip.com mentions that the 6th-floor pool only operates until 7 pm and is sorry it closes so early. If you want an evening swim, check at the desk when you arrive.

Breakfast gets praise for variety in several Trip.com reviews, though one guest found it average. The bigger point: you are not on an island, so you are not tied to hotel food. The city centre is all around you, and our Nha Trang food guide covers what to eat and what it costs.

Rates in October 2026 and what's included

For the night of 14–15 October 2026, Kayak listed Vinpearl Empire from $37 to $116 depending on room type and seller. The same day, Vinpearl's own site showed a Deluxe Double from $54 in the widget on its FAQ page and from about $60 on its rooms page.

The numbers differ because Kayak aggregates many sellers and every room type, while Vinpearl quotes its own rate for one room, and even its own pages disagree. The FAQ range is a year-round guide; Vinpearl itself notes higher prices in peak periods and holidays.

Booking direct: the Vibing Your Summer package

Vinpearl's special-offers page lists a "Vibing Your Summer" package: book by 30 November 2026 for stays from 25 May to 30 November 2026, and pick one of three perks:

1. Free entry to Aquafield, a Korean-style wellness complex, with a return cable car ride.
2. Free stay for up to two children under 12 with breakfast, no extra bed.
3. A hotel credit of 300,000 VND (~$11.50) per room per night.

Booking through the website or the MyVinpearl app adds discounts on spa, golf and dining. Separately, code EP10 in the app gives 10% off rooms and up to 30% off services until 31 December 2026.

What's in the rate and what isn't

• Included: the room and Wi-Fi. Vinpearl calls the Wi-Fi complimentary, but the FAQ on melia.com says the opposite, so check when you book. Breakfast only if your rate includes it.
• Not included: VinWonders, the cable car, spa, lunch and dinner, airport transfer.

VinWonders is where expectations go wrong. Some island resorts give guests a free park pass (the Marriott on Hon Tre does); this hotel's listing does not. Vinpearl's FAQ mentions "bundled tickets or guest perks" with no details. Another guest on Trip.com mentions asking about VinWonders tickets at check-in, being told to buy them the next day, and then hearing at check-out that there would be no discount and no priority lane.

If the park is part of your plan, book a package with tickets in advance rather than at reception.

The honest downsides

The biggest one: this is not a beach hotel. There is no private beach and no sunbeds by the water, and every trip to the sea means crossing Tran Phu and its traffic.

The rest comes from reviews and from the sources themselves:

• Age. The building is eight years old, and several Trip.com reviews say the same thing: great location, but dated rooms and fittings. One guest mentions torn curtains, another a balcony with no chairs.
• Housekeeping. Not everyone had trouble, but one guest staying five nights with their parents wrote that the sheets were never changed and towels had to be requested daily.
• Pool closes early. One review says 7 pm.
• Conflicting numbers. Even the official sites disagree on the beach distance. Check the address on a map, not the "steps from the sea" line.
• The island is a separate trip. VinWonders is about 6 km away: a ride to the cable car station, the crossing and separate tickets.

None of this makes it a bad hotel. It just makes it the wrong pick if what you wanted was "a five-star by the sea".

Alternatives to compare

Vinpearl Empire wins on location and price and loses on beach access. The same group has several other properties in Nha Trang. Prices below are the lowest rates shown in the widgets on vinpearl.com's FAQ page on 7 October 2026. Some of them are special offers and packages, so your dates will differ.
